Did anyone else get Sky for F1?

Finally cracked and getting Sky installed tomorrow!
Was going to wait and see what the BBC coverage of non-live races was like, but don't think I will bother with that now.

Hopefully going to watch the Australian GP on Sky F1 channel and then BBC one to compare!

Hmmmm, phoned up virgin to cancel my services and they've offered me the a shiny tivo box and the full sky sports package, for about the same price as I would pay sky ~£50

Do I sacrifice every race in HD and more free channels and take virgin, or change to sky and sacrifice my (soon to be) 60meg internet and not get the other sky sports channels?

I was on the basic Virgin (M+) TV, Phone and 10MB Broadband - They couldn't match anything Sky was offering so I sacked them off for TV, got a slight reduction on the Phone and Broadband and switched to Sky+ for TV.
You might pay a bit more - but best of both worlds!

I would definitely switch if you just want F1 in HD as the package is £30 p/m (without Sky Sports) and then you can also get cashback through the popular sites.
If you definitely want all Sky Sports channels in SD then it may be cheaper/easier to stick with Virgin - just make sure you get a good discount as the TIVO monthly charge is scandalous!

Question: I've never had Sky at this address, or on my own name. However, I have had soy broadband.. Do I qualify as a "new" sky customer?

On the site I get the impression that I'm a new sky tv customer, but then when I go on the cashback sites I keep wondering that they'll argue my status and I'll end up getting £0 back.

To be honest, I will only get it, if I can get the £101 cashback as it makes the deal seem a bit more reasonable at £21 a month :p

I have caved in and ordered Sky. I was all set to rebel and stick with the BBC, but with the Aussie GP fast approaching and facing the prospect of not getting up to watch it live for the first time in about 16 years, I have sold my soul...

Sky install man is coming on Thursday next week - just in time!

Nope, F1 isnt that important in my life - hell Ive fallen asleep through some of them, so why pay even more for that privilege :p. Ill enjoy it for the spectacle it is and pick and choose what ones to watch and equally moan about how boring it was ;)

ps3ud0

I once fell asleep at Silverstone during the GP.. It was the mudbath year, and I'd been queueing all night to get into the carpark ( midnight - 5am ).. saw the first 5 laps, and the last 10 !

I've got VM right now, and I have the option to cancel ( price rises ), so I'm considering my options. ADSL is poor in this area though, and VM will be upgrading to 20Mb this month...

Mine was installed today, just in time for the proper start of the f1 channel tomorrow, and every single race in HD, cant wait.

Although I will probably watch the BBC 1 buildup with Jake and Eddie and switch to Sky for the race with Brundles commentary when both channels show the races.

Have any existing customers been able to upgrade to HD free/cheaper at all? A friend wants it but is having trouble getting his other half to agree that £10pm is worth it!

10 races in HD live on BBC with Jake [not Steve 'dodgy blazzer' Rider] then the rest delayed a bit with all the boring bits cut out and no adverts.

Steve Rider is only doing the Legends programmes I think, not the actual race broadcasts.

via the Quidco or Topcashback website, existing customers should *touch wood* recieve £50 cashback, and £50 worth of M&S Vouchers.

Sky+ White box to sky HD is a free box and £10.25 a month subscription.

No but you get £50 M&S vouchers if sign up to HD online, might lessen the blow :D

well i was going to cave in and order sky today. £100 quidco and £100 m&S voucher helps the pain but it says you have to have a working landline for install, and we dont have a landline! what a pain in the bum!
