Did anyone else get Sky for F1?

Have any existing customers been able to upgrade to HD free/cheaper at all? A friend wants it but is having trouble getting his other half to agree that £10pm is worth it!

As peeps have said, there is Quidco to be had.

Just a heads up though, I think Sky will try and charge you £60 for the upgrade to HD box, but only either online, or over the phone (can't remember which). If so go for the other method.

well i was going to cave in and order sky today. £100 quidco and £100 m&S voucher helps the pain but it says you have to have a working landline for install, and we dont have a landline! what a pain in the bum!

Not sure if they still do it, but you used to be able to get a 'no phone line' install for an extra £25? You could order and say your line is being fitted in 2 weeks time through BT/Talk Talk/The post office?

Sky must offer a service that works without a phone line. It may not be advertised well, but it will be there somewhere. Give them a call.

And do you not have a phone line at all, or just not a BT phone line? Sky works down a VM phone line I believe.

I've been trying to sign up for the last two days to basic sky hd pack plus phone and BB through Quidco, its all works fine until I get the to address username email part, click next and it comes up with a unknown error and asks me to call them.
I tried calling them and they are happy to sign me up online but then I will get no quidco

Anyone know what standard the Indycar coverage is like on SKY?

Is Indycar even worth watching these days? It's been years since I followed it or even watched a race.

Last time I watched it it was US coverage, which meant the annoying silences when they all went for add breaks.

However, it still produced some good racing. Its something different too, so I enjoyed watching it.

Aaahh that's what that is? Was watching motors TV earlier this week and was like... Why on earth does it keep going silent? :p

Yeah lol, Was watching the NASCAR see what it was all about (got a bit bored if I'm honest) Will give it more time.

I've watched american TV on holiday before and the adverts drive you crazy. The one I remember was watching some american sitcom. advert comes on so I watch all that, program comes back and it was just the end credits. gits lol

Nationwide series at Phoenix? Yeah, that was boring as hell.

The race the weekend before at Daytona was good though. I have promised JRS I will give NASCAR a chance this year. So far I'm 50/50 on it. Its a bit annoying the Cup series is on a subscription channel.

Yeah was at Phoenix, I'm just missing the technical side of things I think. Like what sets the front from the back apart from the driver? I'd imagine if you get into what the teams are doing and get into the guts of it all it will become much more exciting.

Yeah dipping in an out means you miss out on a lot. JRS likes to keep us updated on here though when races are on, and is very clued up on the technical side so helps answer the questions of the novices like me :).

Stay up tomorrow night and watch the Nationwide and join the thread on here.

Switched from Virgin to Sky largely due to F1 only being HD on Sky.

Also benefit of Sky Atlantic for Game of Thrones, and ITV4 HD for BTCC and Sky 3D though, so not purely for F1.

I have enjoyed watching F1 for over 30 years on the BBC or ITV and will not be subscribing to Sky.

A 3 month trial was an eye opener, absolutely amazed by the constant adverts and the number of repeats.

So purchased a Humax Freesat box last year and will be watching it on RTL with Radio 5 commentary, not perfect but free.

F1 races won't have any adverts in them. I've been watching F1 for about 30 years too, it certainly wasn't 'enjoyable' in the 80s and 90s when even some races weren't live and you had to follow them on Ceefax. Sky coverage looks to have raised the bar again compared to BBC's recent few years of good coverage and I'm gladly on board (I have it anyway for football - which also has no adverts during the game).

You know that RTL has adverts during the race, right?

5 live isn't anywhere near as appealing as it used to be either, Crofty and Davidson both have gone to Sky.

And in their place.. James Allen, Jonathan Legard and Jaime Alguersuari.
