Did anyone get the FE version? Anyone?

Everyone interested in getting an 3080 should watch this. I am usually not interested in Moores Law is Dead but what he talks about in this video sounds very convincing.

Basically, Nvidia intentionally makes the Founders Edition amazing so that it get's great reviews. They price it incredibly competitively to get massive attention. They hardly make any at all and hope to sell as a loss leader. When there is no stock available at launch it will massively inflate the cost of AIB cards when they are back in stock next month. There will never be any Founders Edition cards available for sale probably or very low numbers. Basically if you want a 3080 in 2020 you will have to pay way over RRP so in reality the RRP is just a lie, the real cost is much higher for poorer quality AIB cards.

This is very clever of Nvidia so that they can get loads of praise from the Youtubers for great bang for buck cards when in reality that bang for buck does not exist.

Frankly I am done with Nvidia after this. It is one thing to sell out of all your stock through demand but it is another thing to intentionally deceive your customers to artificially inflate prices. I will be looking to AMD for my next card. I may not be able to buy one any time soon and it may not be as powerful but at least I won't be getting ripped off (assuming they don't do something similar).

Mate, I watched that when he dropped it and I was like "nah he's having a laugh", then I read a bit more into it and then started watching the AIB's go up and I knew, I just knew that the 3080 fe would be non-existant, from that moment on I said to myself AMD is the way forward for me now. Every damn card bar one that I have ever owned has been Nvidia - not no more, I'm done with their BS on price and their terrible deception of their buyers. I was going to get my eldest a 3070 for xmas, but now I really hope AMD have something for him in the price range similar to the 3700, as I just can't do it out of principal.

Lol, it sounds plausible and within character for Nvidia to create artificial demand. At end of the day, whilst I did want to buy one, or even an aib one if sensibly priced, it's not like I have to have one.

I'll wait out the poop show, see what AMD bring to the table (likely empty promises) and if prices are stupid, simply not bother. It's a conscious choice whether or not you wish to be screwed.

Agree with all of that blog aside from the above. There's no evidence the AIB cards are neccesarily poorer quality. The AIB reviews I've seen state that the cards are quieter and cooler. That may be due to the FE Card having a higher manual adjustment on the power limit.

It's an effective marketing tactic from Nvidia but boy is it sneaky. It's not winning them any friends but Jensen won't care as long as the profits hit/exceed expectations.

So could retailers rack the price up even for people who have bought them on pre order but hasn't shipped yet?

There is also a lot of talk of bots, I don't wan to link the twitter but a certain provider of bots for scalping products was retweeting all the idiots bragging about how many 3080's they bagged.

Nvidias site had absolutely zero protection vs bots too. So it doesn't surprise me people press f5 every 1 second and it still went to out of stock. These cards sold out in seconds.....maybe even under a second?

I'm only interested in FE and couldn't get any (there was no stock on Nvidia website, none,I was there for hours!),maybe that's for the best because I can now comfortably wait for ZEN 3 CPUs in few weeks time, instead of buying a Zen 2 in their last month of life and highest price.
