I'd love to join the army, the range of things you learn, the places you visit, the people you meet, the skills you gain.

Then you are posted in Iraq. Only thing putting me off joining.

Hmm, the attitude of nothing to loose, good for some things not so good for advancing in life. Whats made you feel like this?

Well my best friend stopped talking to me.
****** me up really good that did.
I loved her more then myself and cared about her heaps.
If one of had to die i would have chosen me.
She was such a close/good friend that i would be really cautious with things so i didnt get hurt or killed so she wouldnt need to go through any pain.
Now that i have lost her i have really just lost all fear of dieing.
Im not suicidal or anything. Just a lot more fearless then i was.

I must admit I've got to the stage of being more fearless than I was. Glad to hear your no suicidal :) I'm sure that if she meant that much to you, you must have meant a lot to her, despite whats happened.

Anyway of starting communications again?

I have no idea.
Shes being bloody stubborn.
We live a fair distance apart and it all depends if she will talk to me on MSN or Msg me which she hasnt done for about 2 weeks now.
Shes also told me a heap of times before she stopped talking to me. "Just leave me alone" and "Stay out of my life" and "I have enough friends as it is" :(

Then to be honest if shes treated you like that, she doesn't deserve the caring that you showed her. Your probably better off

Everyone tells me that.
I try to be better off but it just doesnt work.
It kind of feels like a part of my self has died now shes not in my life

I wouldnt mind dieing in the army if it was in a war or a conflict protecting innocent people.

But its not, looks what the meida in the UK make out a solider killed in Iraq, its shocking and you are just being used by the media.

Too many lives have been lost in Iraq to even warrant a slight inkling in joining.

If you felt that much for her then it will do for a while. But it will pass, and you will get on with your life and to be honest you'll probably be happier for it. I really do hope it all works out for you :(

Yea, thats true, though you have to be able to see it from every point of view (I won't even try). They had their reasons, as did Hitler, as does anyone who does anything.

I think you need to be fairly complacent and ready to take orders in the army. Well definately ready to take orders.

These forums are one of the best online societies you can get. Its filtered but to an extent that the community is kept, on a whole, to nice people, who don't want to cause issues. They just come on to interact.

best of luck getting a car, i'll be getting one but i doubt i'll be able to afford insurance :o

Hope she does, that will be a bit of money in your pocket to get things rolling. All these things can be steps towards doing what you want to do. Its a shame that life cant be simple :(

why dont you do AS/A levels you enjoy and spend some time looking into courses at university that would really interest you. there really is something for everyone just takes time to look into it. you can get a book from UCAS with all the universities/degrees if you want somewhere to start. i had no idea what i wanted to do a few years back and was really demotivated at school ended up with some okish as levels but then looked into courses and it really motivated me cos i found a course i really wanted to do. having seen the goal i had to achieve a certain level at A level which i found really motivating. thoroughly enjoying my course at uni now although not looking forward to exams in a few weeks :p

also, taking the time to do some work and stuff has made you see that it might not be what you want to do for the rest of your life with people constantly getting the jobs you want due to higher education, so its a good thing :)

dont get down mate you havent screwed up.

I have a few ideas how i might be able to make money.

I even have an idea in my head about a way to make a new form of car engine.
I just dont have an engineering degree and dont know how to make an engine so i dont know what to do with the idea
