Did I mess up my life?

WINNER indeed, tho wouldn't there have to be a BIG generator to power the number of machines in the bus? And would it be a internet cafe or just purely LAN?

Purely hardcore lannage. Its only going to travel between specific events, otherwise it will be fixed. We'll just leech a 3-pin power plug extension lead up to maccy d's or something :p .

It would mainly consist of larger events, at specific times, so as to maximise revenue considering the power consumption. IE, fill it up with players for 4 hours, run it for 4 hours, and so on.

Indeed..Sounds well thought out.

You know any where we can get a bus cheapish? I can chip in a £10 if needs be.. We can all bring our rigs to start it up ;)

Actually Chris I remember us (Well me :)) dabbling with the idea of a satellite connection. That'd be sick!

Only prob is you cant upload data from a satelite feed. Only download at broadband speed. Upload would have to be done through 56k.,

Not true. Believe me I've looked.

Seriously? I've looked before and you can get broadband speeds down but up cannot be done through the sat? Correct me if i'm wrong please.

/Edit LUUUSH...GL Chris with the license thang.

You can definitely upload with a satellite connection but be prepared for absolutely abominable latency (in the order of a second or two). Online gaming is absolutely categorically out of the question on a satellite connection.

Indeed... Ah well, LAN is perfectly acceptable :D

Cheers for the clarification on sat upload.

A good point, it'd be simply for data transfer/communications etc. As Chris said gaming would be kept on LAN.

Instead of a LAN bus how about you just make it a rolling hardwear shop.

You drive through towns and stop there for a few hours then move on to the next town?
Sounds easyer and cheaper then LANing on a bus

OR do both, have a LAN centre in a bus but sell cheap gaming hardware... We'd need more security then...

This is by far the least realistic and least viable business idea I've ever heard of in my entire life I cannot believe you're serious :(

Bit of a late reply, but i know how you feel mate. I seriously couldnt be arsed listening to the waffle teachers come out with and being around immature little kids all the time. I got so bored in IT i just typed up what i felt like at the time to pass the 2 hours. Longest essay i'd ever written.

If you think swindon's bad for jobs, try around here. It's awful unless you want to be a care assistant. I'm kinda in the crapper because i cant really interact with people very well, so even retail kinda things would be hard for me, i just like getting given something and gettin on with it!

On another note, my dad works at honda in swindon, and he said they were taking people on through best recruitment or something..? It's bloody hard work, but £20k/yr is minimum what you'll get. Put the effort in, and they will look after you ;)

Easy. Make half of the bottom of the bus the checkout/store and at the other end where the stair case goes to the top put a Rottweiler dog there so trespassers cant get to the stair case.
And at the top of the bus can be the storage facility :)

Well we DID think of one version being a coach, with the luggage compartment full of PC gear :D

Yea, swindon itself can have a lot of chances for people, its got under employment at the moment. Its just getting something I like a lot, if I don't
succeed I will go to Honda and places like that and then work my way up like that.

Best of luck with your situation. There nothing you can do around your area? How about in the commutable distance?
