Didn't dress smart enough for House of Fraiser?

I used to get a lot of customers looking down their noses at me when I worked the till at Tesco. I just used to ignore it and be rude to them, because they don't deserve anyone being nice to them. It's worse when you have some dirty little begger looking down their nose at you. It's just a pathetic mentality. Rise above it.

I've lost count of the amount of times I've been treated like scum in a shop because I'm wearing shorts and a rock band t-shirt or something.
I always deal in cash and I've never used a card in a shop, so when I'm treated like poo I'll get my wad out and tell them I'm taking my business elsewhere.

It really winds me up as well ray, I get it in the bar I work at, people who talk down to you and are snobbish for no reason, they will normally get a big "**** off" from me and a very sharp and abrupdt service from that point, where normally I would tend to have a laugh with the people I am serving

Pretty much what was happening in my last shift, though my barmate and I agreed that most of the women there looked like they haven't had any in a few years time, hence trying to vent it some way :D

I do hope you made a point of rubbing the money across their face and give them a little slap with it before moving elsewhere!

To a simple staff member (not own business), card is better regarded over cash. With card, the staff is less likely to make a mistake, whereas in cash, there is always the chance of a miscount.

Cash>cards the way I see it.

If you had large amounts of money in cash form I'd hold you in even lower regard as it was almost certainly stolen or ill-gotten.

Wealth these days is shown in the things you do and own, not loadsamoney-style wads :D

I was treated noticeably better when I went shopping in my lunch breaks from a job where I had to wear a suit, as compared to when I go shopping wearing jeans and a t-shirt.

I put it down to a combination of shop staff being more impressed with someone wearing a suit, and me feeling more confident when I wore a suit. I suppose there could be an element of snobbery too, but I never went somewhere like House of Fraser where that would have been an issue!

Haha. What? I always prefer using cash to using my card, and so do a lot people people I know who would be considered rich.

Edit: Rich by honest means, that is.

How so? I often use cash, simply because I prefer not to leave electronic traces everywhere.

There is absolutely no chance I will miscount my cash because I count it first and the lads behind the OCUK desk will verify.
I've been into shops and pulled out £5000 in cash before now all divided up into easily countable £100s and some piles have been all £5.
No staff will miscount in front of me.

must be cos you're chinese!

but seriously think nothing of it, human nature i guess to assume that you have no money because you're a student whilst if you're wearing a suit, people assume that you are more likely to make a purchase.

But then again to assume makes an ass out of you and me.

I bet the shops weren't too happy about you playing with their money ;)

thats foolish, people who carry a lot of money around in notes, are either brain dead or are asking for trouble.
