Didn't dress smart enough for House of Fraiser?

How so? I often use cash, simply because I prefer not to leave electronic traces everywhere.

Its quite simple. If you use a cash machine you have to make 2 transactions. Once at the ATM, another in the shop itself - then you end up with pockets full of change that you either spend (cos the moneys there) or just have to deal with.

Using a card takes the exact amount off your balance with no mess :)

thats foolish, people who carry a lot of money around in notes, are either brain dead or are asking for trouble.

TBH, I don't see many people thinking it's a good idea to try and mug an middle-aged rocker. They're supposed to be 'ard.

Cash is faster and therefore easier, and even if it wasn't I'd always carry cash because a lot of places don't accept cards. I don't think that you have any right to tell people what they 'should' be doing anyway.

It's probably down to the lipstick he was wearing then! :p

Roffle! :p

And to the OP I've never noticed this when I work (that's probably because I don't get a lot of people in suits coming into primark). If someone talks to me nicely i'll do the same back. I'm not saying that your not a nice person, judging from your posts you come off as a nice person, though everyone is different. Maybe she was just a snobish bitch?

And what on earth does that have to do with cash being "almost certainly stolen or ill-gotten", as you claimed?

And I NEVER use cash machines. Ever.

And as for the rolleyes, you can probably guess what to do with that. I asked a perfectly civil, and quite serious, question.

Do you ever carry a mobile phone, mp3 player, other flashy gadget or expensive clothing or jewellery around on your person?

I try to use my card but end up using cash a lot because of....

"SORRY SIR WE DON'T ACCEPT ELECTRON"

Because in normal situations, people just dont *have* large amounts of cash. Obviously there are exceptions, but people these days are generally payed by BACS and large purchases are made electronically. Anything else would stand out, in my eyes.

You don't use cash machines - fantastic. Your stories of your secret agent lifestyle make you so cool.

Because Electron suck :p

Get a real card ;)

I work shifts and sometimes after a 12hr night shift I'll stop off on my way home to get some bread etc. As you can imagine I don't look too good and get some funny looks from all the fresh looking people on their way to work.

On my week off it's even worse. I still dress like a student on my days off (I'm 35) and most shop assistants think because I'm walking around in the middle of the afternoon on a weekday I must be unemployed. It's worse in the larger dept stores. The good thing is I don't get hassled by the sales assistants and I have my own personal security follow me around :)

My wife works part-time and on a couple of occasions now, when she has been out with the little one in a pushchair, a sales person has made a rude comment along the lines of "do you realise how much that costs", and that's just for a £20 or less item. She complained in writing to the manager at one of the stores and received an apology but it shouldn't have happened in the first place.

oh yeah, the above might make more sense if you know we are of asian descent. I don't like to think it has anything to do with the colour of our skin but she says they will speak loudly and slowly to her until she interrupts and tells them she's not an immigrant. you can't really blame them though, portsmouth has had it's share of immgrants/asylum seekers, even I get the immigrant treatment sometimes

What on earth are you on about? What stories of secret agent lifestyle? I've never said anything of the sort.

Swear i get followed when i walk thru it, kinda fun tho i go up and down the escaltors and round in circles see if they keep following

This might be very hard to believe but I've never used a card in a shop and I haven't got a clue what my PIN number is.
I do use it on the net though.
Whenever I buy items with loads of cash I'm always in the shop about one minute after its opened so the chances of muggers getting me is non existent because they're all in bed.
