Personally I don't care because I found cod 4 incredibly easy and skill less online very arcadey and console esque.
They can keep their game I shall be buying and supporting a real game company namely Bioware and getting dragon age origins oh and borderlands of course.Btw this is more than likely evil activisions doing than infinity ward.

Imo I don't think this has been done for dlc reasons I think they simply cannot be bothered or to have the costs and time of doing it and it's just a straight up xbox port thus the p2p netcode only.

If it's so easy and skilless, maybe you should play competitively and earn yourself some money.

Hell if your that good at it, go pro.

Yeah but wow isn't really a normal game. Diablo 3 and starcraft 2, alongside valve releases will always be here. But for everything else there's the consoles. Sad but true.

Gonna go suck up my pride and get myself a PS3, I've always wanted to play uncharted, ratchet and clank, metal gear solid and gran turismo anyways.

Don't forget to stick your steam name etc in the borderlands steam, thread then :p

Was planning on buying this. Now, not so much, will pirate it on 360 for MP and possibly on PC for SP, and find me a copy of MW1 to support the devs.

hopefully this can expand a bit and turn in to a boycott all future activision products

now back in the real world where most people wont even know or care about no dedicated servers and will be buying the game anyway

I tell you something which I have noticed amongst american console gamers though saying why should pc gamers get extra content for free and it's not fair pc games are cheaper etc and maybe that has something to do with it, there is definitely a strong anti pc brigade in the usa a lot of them have laptops and don't want the expense of constantly upgrading pc parts.

yes there is that...but you can bet your top dollar the same can be said if PS3 and Xbox users could pirate their games considering how high priced they are. Or I believe some already do?

Piracy is rife on the 360, but currently impossible on the PS3.

We get extra content for free because we CAN. MS are stingy about even allowing free content on LIVE Store (Valve want to give free TF2 stuff for XBox, but MS aren't too happy about it).

We also have helped generate many of the ideas, concepts, textures and even maps that end up in later versions of the game. Think about some of the old CS maps, or even TF2 stuff ... a lot of it was created by the community that alter got included in the official game.
How much community created content is there for console games?

We have also spread the word about many games, via having clans and communities... again something that console players have not done.

As such any extra content we get is a "thank you" for the past and current efforts the community puts in, plus many of the added things are done because otherwise we would not accept the game ... as it would be sub-standard compared to other games available on the PC.

Check out the Forza community, there is lots and lots there. ;)

It is just tuned cars, or graphics.

You CANNOT add a car to the game that was not there to begin with, while with many PC titles you can do that via mods.
For instance, FM2 does not have the Veyron in it ... if there is so much community generated stuff, how come no-one has created a Veyron for the game? Oh that's right, they CAN'T :)

I think Ps3 copy protection has been cracked but 25gb isos and the price of BD disks, combined with having to crack it again every firmware update just make it too much hassle to bother with

There needs to be a balance between profits and freedom, seems like microsoft are trying to condition the next generation who use consoles into thinking every little thing has a cost, you only have to look at gamer pics to see that, it's quite wrong of them to restrict 3rd party's from having their updates contain more than just bug fixes, they want to put a price on map packs and other new content, keeping them separate just because microsoft say so, how pathetic, i just hope PC users won't stand for it.

Yeah that's pretty much it. An exploit was found and there was rumours of an iso loader, but like you say the exploit was quickly patched in a firmware update. I don't think you'll ever see the PS3 properly hacked, hell even the 360 hasn't actually been hacked, it's just the 360's DVD drive firmware that has been compromised.

Both console's operating sytems run on a Hypervisor and as such are very secure, it's just 'luck' that MS left a weak link in the security chain: The DVD drive firmware.

I guess the best way to know for sure where PC gaming is going is to look to Nvidia and ATI. They rely on gamers buying their cards for gaming purposes. If they suddenly start downgrading their own specs for cheaper production costs or simply just move on and focus on something else then PC gaming is clearly coming to an end. Not so sure we are fully there yet but give it a few years sure.

Also, I think it is deeper than PC gaming. Personally, I think the PC is getting phased out. Honestly. Everything now is becoming mobile phone / tablet / console centric. The more internet capable all this stuff gets, and the more Google focuses on mobile apps etc, the less likely people will even want PCs. I think the glory days of CS 1.6 on a dedicated server with a community of mates will be a memory of some lost era soon.

This is so disappointing. I must have over 2000 hours in CoD1 +2, all competitive play. I was going to try MW2 now and see what it could offer..guess that's out of the question.

How would the two teams decides who hosts the game? 0 ping is a big advantage.
What if the host's PC crashes? What happens then? Dedicated servers rarely, if ever, crash.
Also..competitive mods? What will become of those?

.. :(

there are no mods, no dedi servers. Stick to Cod 1 + 2, CSS, TF2 etc
