yeah theres no proof now obviously but they havent done it for a laugh have they?

they will charge you for map packs ill guarentee that it is logic . why would you not charge people for the exact same content once you have the same platform already and charging for that content (consoles)

like already said the map packs alone would more than cover any losses of gamers who just dont buy the game alone. if you look at map packs sold previously on eggbox and ps3

lol at all the sig police. i had the best one and do you know why ? it was made for these forums by a moderator and was took off for being too big yet it was the main theme for ages lol lol lol

I don't know if someone has mentioned this before, i have only skimmed the thread. But it sounds like IW have made this for consoles as they might see that as the main platform now for this game, and can't be bothered to port it properly to pc.

Feel for the international gamers too on this one. Hopefully there will be some sort of region filter but I doubt it.

Remember the days of playing late at night on the Xbox and when the Amercians came on it just became a complete lag fest.

...can't be bothered to port it properly to pc.

I doubt it's a case of "cant be bothered" - that would hardly wash in development meetings, and it's not like the first MW wasnt a huge sales success, so they know they're aiming at a certain audience, estimating sales figures at 7million+ again, possibly higher.

No, my gut feeling is this is a monetization issue, like others have suggested. Paid for DLC, paid for map packs, and much shorter longevity of the game before gamers "hunger" for a new instalment, i.e. more cash for company/shareholders.

Problem is I think they've just missed the mark, dedicated servers arent hard to build in or complicated to have working, IW just want a dumbed-down console experience on all platforms that gets them maximum $ in minimum time.

I wouldnt blame anyone for pirating this when IW are treating their fanbase with such disdain.

Well, I have sent a long, although structured email to Activision telling them my thoughts and making them aware of the thoughts of others and pointing out the possible financial implications of what they have done.

Publishers have a LOT of say regarding game development.

Maybe this was approved by Activision, maybe IW just do what they want and Activision trust them to lay the "Golden Egg" every 2 years?

MAYBE, just MAYBE, Activision may have the final say in this?

?

well if they do charge for DLC through this system then they are looking at 10 million dollars + revenue from that alone, so you can see why it would still be a good decision financially.

Also I'm sure a multi billion dollar company did sightly more detailed number crunching that some armchair board member :p

*no offence.

None taken.

LOL

I know.

I just cant sit by and do nothing though and I would rather do something than just rant on a forum.

If they did end up doing that (which I very much doubt) think of what amazing content they could bring to the MW franchise - more SP content, more MP maps, weapons, gametypes - much like WoW keeps adding (what I presume is good) content to all it's subscribers.

There are plenty of people around who develop absolutely fantastic add-ons for PC games and distribute them for free. Forcing people to pay for DLC doesn't guarentee quality.

DLC created from the heart (:p) is generally better than DLC created for financial gain.

I really don't think any of this will make the slightest difference to what they do. Their rep has been tainted though. I wonder if they knew of the poo storm they were going to cause?

I don't think they're stupid enough to not have known what they were doing, I also don't think the reasons stated are the whole story.

well they knew it would kick up a fuss, but they also know the majority of their target audience wont hear anything about it until after they bought the game.

I am still need to be convinced that the majority of their target audience will care about it after the have bought the game. Sure the clan and more hardcore players are upset but how big a share of the market is that? I have no idea.
