Even when you claim to follow SC2 you still failed to pull up the earnings chart:

Yeh man these pro players earn very little money!

Well done in de-constructing your own argument and using the old patronizing rollyeyes.

Let me put it this way, I've not got experience of being a successful religious studies teacher but i still strongly believe they give very little to society. Point: You don't have to have experience of something to have an opinion on how pointless it is, else i could ask you the reverse, do YOU have experience of running a successful team to know it's beneficial to society?

Got to be honest though i care very little about this whole subject, so unsubscribing from this thread now.

Provides job for players does it not? I mean I suppose it is better they are on the dole than having these teams at all? Also not really sure every job is/has to be beneficial to society? If you're generating money to pay players and your own wage it must be worth doing and I'm sure it is also fairly stressful compared to some jobs which I'm sure pay a fair bit more.

There ares 1000's more jobs which are sure as hell a lot less beneficial to society (depending on how you measure it people in jobs = beneficial or contributing to social welfare) which I'd get rid of before someone managing an esports organisation.

Anyways back to the crux of the point, there is no reason this guy doesn't deserve it, does his bit for the team and community and people are willing to donate to help make this guys christmas a lot easier.

I didn't need to pull that up. You can see on it there are only 10 players in the world that have earned $50k or more a year.

From the UK the most a player has earned is $20k in the last 3 years total.

I also didn't claim the players earned little, go read my post. I said the staff earn very little, most of them are volunteers at teams like TeamLiquid and ItsGosu.

Now go back and read his first post where he said

There's around a handful of people in the esports scene (Not including players) that can support themselves from what they do.
Most top players can support themselves through their winnings but I'd say in the SC2 scene I know there's only about 20-30 players that I can say would be able to in the longterm.

I bolded the important bit.

just end the thread . esports players/ managers on the whole get basically nothing

unless you get a big deal through sponsorship or win regular big comps you get nothing to speak about much.

also members of dignitas are on this forum lol

sorry to the chap and the fire must have been last thing you want at christmas if ever .

arnt ocuk a sponsor of dignitas aswell :D

This.

No respect for people who take advantage of the position they're in.

Read the thread or watch the video then. This isn't something that was done by ODEE, it was something the community has done to give back to him in this time of need, primarily for his children's sake.
