Dilemma, (KS7000 refund)

It was a smartthings dongle and it worked very well. I had one sent to me and I plugged it in my KS9500 and everything worked.
The TV had to be in standby mode. And like everyone else I used Alexa to control things.
OK if you tried the beta test and they then disabled it that's commitment to the functionality

but if, as he is, you are just suffering buyer remorse then get over it - there will always be new technology tomorrow

bought a roku 4k stick yesterday, the HLG loop trial worked for me and my ks7000. just had to enable iplayer beta and then select the trial, looks good but weirdly I seem to prefer sdr as I didn't really like the brightness levels

I have a SS+ (they will send you an hdmi extender for free) I don't have an hlg tv, and without that I think you get 'standard' hdr10 hdr, since tv will not interpret the hlg meta-data sent via hdmi,
giving frame by frame brightness, however, if the tv itself has dynamic contrast (lg oled+Pan's do - earlier post, don't know samsung) then tv can make up for that.

For the World Cup we will be offering:
3840x2160p50 36Mbit/s
2560x1440p50 16Mbit/s
1920x1080p50 10Mbit/s
1280x720p50 7Mbit/s
The audio will be stereo AAC-LC at 128 kbit/s. Whilst we would like to provide multi-channel sound we have found a number of issues with receivers which are difficult to work-around. We will continue to explore solutions for future events.

I was not in the beta test. I got my daughter to buy and send me one. It worked and I proved it to Samsung with a video.
I would never buy a Samsung TV again....ever

If a company promises a feature in there press release\box. Then they have to keep to there word.
My Sony ZD9 had a Google assistant update last Nov, but half the stuff does not work as should. This TV will be going as well.

Should be getting replaced with a B7 OLED this week :) (and cash their way to make up diff between purchase price and current price of the B7)

All done, £500 their way (i only paid £799 for the KS7000 on Black Friday) they knocked off £100 towards the B7.

Amazing Customer services really. Looking forward to the jump from LED to OLED and 49" to 55"...
Arriving Monday :D

I did exactly this on a 2 year old Sony TV I had a full refund based on the processor not being strong enough to support the software on the TV. Took a little work but had a full purchase price refund then paid the difference for my B7 (I did go in for an XE93 but they didn't have it in stock at RS)

I have a Samsung KS8000 65" and have hated it since day one. Can someone please link me to a clear set of instructions on how to attempt a return? What are the main bullet points for attempting an exchange? (Purched via Richer Sounds)

Hi Mate,

Firstly check here https://eu.community.samsung.com/t5...rs-refund/td-p/358805/highlight/false/page/56

But really, as liek me, you purchased in RS you should have a much easier time of it.

I started it all off with a reasonably informal email where basically I said, Look, I purchased the KS7000 (8000 for you) for you from you and it was advertised at the time that it would work as a "smart things extender" which doesn't actually exist and Samsung have said it never will as they have stopped software support for this TV.
Obviously i'm very unhappy about this and the fact that no updates are coming after (insert number of months here) and as I understand I'm entitled to a full refund for miss-selling.

Provide this link as well:, its a archived version of the page at the time and I found the one for your screen:

https://web.archive.org/web/2016112...t/tv---all/samsung/ue65ks8000/sams-ue65ks8000

With all that you wont have much trouble, although they might try some silly business at first with regards to offering a straight swap for a TV that's not as good.

If I was you I wouldn't accept a Q8F (the newer version of a KS8000, most people seem to say the Q series is a bit a downward step in terms of PQ)

i too have a ks7000 from john lewis which i bought for around 1200 quid i think! Would be interested in getting it swapped out if i can.
However, what's the chances if you don't have the original packaging etc?

I think it's nuts that Samsung aren't supporting the set any more. They're losing face over it massively. It doesn't make a lot of sense when a set has a 5/6 year warranty but is only supported for 18 months.

John Lewis are more difficult but I think people are starting to make way with them now.

At the end of the day the law is on your side, any one that goes to ASA end up with a letter recommending full refund

Thanks so much mate, I’ll draft something up and let everyone know how I get on :)

What I've sent...

21/06/2018

Dear Sir or Madam,

REFERENCE: [Surname]/Richer Sounds-Samsung UE65KS8000

I purchased the Samsung UE65KS8000 from Richer Sounds. At the point of purchase I paid £2499.00 on 18th August 2016.

The Samsung UE65KS8000 is not as described. Prior, during and after me purchasing this particular television Richer Sounds advertised that:

“Samsung SUHD TVs are IOT ready and allow you to create your very own SmartThings ecosystem

Experience a new world of possibilities as Samsung's SUHD TVs enable you to create your very own SmartThings ecosystem. With a wide variety of sensors and inputs work harmoniously with your TV you can control everything from lighting to heating, monitor your baby sleeping or check homework is being done all directly controllable from your SUHD TV.”

Ads your website stated that the television was IOT ready and yet Samsung have not enabled this feature and furthermore, since now officially confirmed they are not releasing the dongle to enable this feature they have misrepresented the capability of the television.

The Consumer Rights Act 2015 makes it an implied term of the contract I have with Richer Sounds that goods be as described, fit for purpose and of satisfactory quality.

As you are in breach of contract and I've owned the product for less than 6 years I am within my statutory rights to ask for it to be refunded or exchanged at no further cost to me.

I await confirmation that you will provide the remedy set out above within 14 days of the date of this letter.

Yours faithfully,

[Name]

The only thing bugging me now is - she binned the box a few months ago :( I still have all contents though. Surely its beyond reasonable to expect you to keep a box that large?

#theoledgrassisgreener.

nonetheless RS can legitimately impose a pro-rata refund on use you have had, apparently 20% chez curry's p/a (what % of the perceived value is the iot hub)

I'd be very surprised if any of them required you to still have the box.

Well that was easy, fair play to Richer Sounds. Dropped my Samsung off, nice new shiny 2018 LG OLED due tomorrow :)

Thanks again Eliot!
