DiRT Rally Hits Steam Early Access

Haven't read this thread in a while.

Finally got back home from work at a reasonable time. Going to try and do some Greece WRs tonight :).

bought this game as it was on discount, but i have to say i am finding it rather difficult.. Don't get me wrong, i do not want a game to hold my hand through and make me win so that i feel better.

But getting out of a mini, after 10hrs of play would be nice !

Is there a way to lower the difficulty in anyway? i've not managed to find one.

I'm in the same boat. Really enjoyed the 80s cars but now I'm in the 205 and Christ on a bike has the difficulty gone up. Finding it really hard to control the car when you spend most of the time airborne and making any mistakes on small kinks at high speed is incredibly punishing.

Really loving it thiugh, guess I should start slow and understand the suspension response to big jumps better.

Been a good boy lately and The Boss says l can get a new Driving Wheel Setup, which one coming from a DFGT-

1.Logitech G29.

2.Logitech G920.

Both wheels above are a good upgrade and nearly half the price if you shop round but the T500RS is in another league but over £300, need a little help you Whacky Racers.

3. Thrustmaster T500 RS Simulator Racing Wheel.

Thanks.

The Logitech G27/G29/G920 isn't enough of an upgrade from a DFGT in my opinion. I had a DFGT, and didn't feel that my friend's G27 was that much better.

The T300 RS would be a better choice with its brushless motor, however the included pedals are complete garbage, so you'd have to factor in at least another ~£75 for a set of Thrustmaster T3PA pedals.

^ This.
I'd even consider just buying some quality pedals and upgrading the wheel later.

Thanks for the replies buying the T300+T3PA pedals will cost roughly the same as the T500 but the pedals with this look far better.

I don't think they are massively better. It's just the option to change their orientation that's nice.
You can do a load cell conversion on either I believe (google it) :)

ED: Unless you're dead set on getting a new wheel (and a T300/500 would be a nice upgrade), maybe have a look around for a used set of Clubsport V1/V2 pedals?

No other way around it but to take it slow and learn. This is one of the most punishingly difficult games I've ever played (if not the most), especially on a controller. It can take hundreds of hours to wrap your head around it but the driving itself is immensely satisfying. I'm 75 hours in and even though I found the Mini and the initial championship rather easy, I have to be happy just with going under 3:00 on shorter stages and under 7:00 on long stages. No world records for me;p

id go for a thrustmaster for that budget pue ;)

as for the pug 205 i mostly tighten the differentials up and then its about the gearing. thing is you have to learn to tame it a little first.that means practice. on the edge it probably is the hardest car at speed.

thats why its my most driven car in dirt rally :D

what most people do wrong with it is try and go flat out.where as you drive it mostly good lines and 3/4 of its potential.you use the power of the to bring the back end round on hairpins.

the lancia s4 can almost match the pug and for many is better as its easier to drive. so if you want almost identical times try the s4.

^^^ Welcome to the club, please tell me they are sending you a CSH. Out of interest what wheel rim are they shipping you? Presumably not the formula rim!

I have had 3 DFGT (1 modded), G25 and now a g27.

Id buy/mod some paddles for the DFGT unless you can find a g29/920 super cheap (were mega cheap with the amazon promotion recently).

I found the nicest mod/addition for me was making a Handbrake, made 2 now and I find it adds a nice touch to realism plus making it more usable.

I really want to try a Thrustmaster setup to compare but None of my buddies have one.

Dirt Rally is prob the best driving game ive played, I love the fact it can be so unforgiving.
