DiRT Rally Hits Steam Early Access

So I did the league Event today, was doing OK and then on the very last Stage I managed to destroy the Car at a ridiculously low speed, and got a DNF. I'd come out of a Hairpin very slowly but gone up the bank slightly and hit a tree, must have been doing 20Mph if that :o I wish I'd recorded it. :D

Is everyone else doing it in 'Hard Mode'? No Assists, Forced Camera etc. No Practising and doing it all in one session? Or just me? Some of those times are crazy good!

I did it all in one sitting with no practice beforehand, all assists off except ABS which is set to 1. :)

EDIT: Guessing there were a few crashes on Pant Mawr? :D :D

Betta lines 'First Look' shows the FFB in comparison to RBR and its getting looked at according to the devs :)

Good news :

"Steve our Physics guy, Nick and Paul who do the car handling, Paul Coleman the Chief Game designer and myself had a skype call with him today. Really smart guy and he knows his stuff inside out, its the kind of feedback like this we need too. Good in-depth feedback that we can work with.

Dom (the guys name) has given us a lot to think about, we're going to get to work on it and when we have something to show he's agreed to come down and help us fine tune the new settings. I won't lie this isn't the kind of thing we're going to fix in a few days but we will of course keep you all updated.

Feel free to talk to Dom about the call too, I've told him that he's free to discuss our conversation and what he thought - we don't want anything like this to be a secret."

Codies on the ball

Sweet!

And now the snow.. it all goes massively downhill from here :(

I was at the top of the league stage 1 and then went 30 second behind, caught it back up to 8 or so seconds behind killswitch.. then i hit the snow.. :(

So. I managed to be top by 7 seconds until the first Snow track and then it all went pear shaped. I got a 15 second penalty for allegedly cutting a hairpin (I actually cocked the corner up and tries to correct) and then i span about 200m down the road. Im happy with second but i got such a headache i cant e bothered to do it all over again hehe

That hairpin cutting penalty is so annoying, i got done twice by that in my recent run :(

Very impressed that they seem to really be taking this title seriously and taking feedback on board so eagerly. I think this one's a keeper!

Yesss, I'm looking forwards to getting stuck into this one.

Anyone any tips for manouevering around corners ? I find im sliding into trees and objects way 2 often, do you guys brake or handbrake around corners, or just slow down ? any sensitivity options I could change maybe that would help ? I use a 360 controller, thanks for any help

Depends what car. In my mk2 I brake before and throttle through to bring the back around. I've still not really got the hang of the mini, but I used a lot of hand brake in it. A lot of it comes down to your line I've found. With hairpins is about slowing down, handbrake, throttle through.

I bit the bullet and thought I would give this a go after reading this thread also after watching video's of gameplay.

Looks great! 3 minutes left on the download :D

Will perhaps have a few hours practise to get to grips with the game but hopefully I will get involved with you guys even though ill need an idiot guide on how to do so which I am sure there will be some generous soul here willing to provide :p

Any quick rookie tips?
