Dirty Bomb (from the ppl behind ET)

RTCW and ET were games that could be pretty dam spammy depending on the server you joined (large player count "super-servers" being a favourite). it could also be the most focused and deliberate game i've ever played if you were playing Clan matchs or with a tight group of friends on public matches.

The same game has been remade now 5 times? RTCW, ET, ET:Quakewars, Brink and now Dirtybomb. The first 2 were amazing the 3rd I just don't know what happened to that it just wasn't right and no-one played it, brink was good but with issues and died off fast.

I have high hopes for Dirtybomb I really do, I hope they can reverse the trend.

I liked ETQW a lot (the fact I had quite a bit of design input on it probably helps), in many ways its not dissimilar to bf4 but with a proper objective mode, except it doesn't prop up peoples ego like bf4 which fast turned off a lot of the casual crowd, much less ways to rack up easy kills, etc.

How are people organising games between friends/groups for this? IRC? If so, I'll have to blow the dust off my mIRC desktop icon!

I enjoyed it but nobody else i played ET with did they all drifted away very quickly. Some of the maps were really good and I enjoyed the gameplay. maybe it was because everyone ran off to play on xbox 360 and Call of duty but it was the start of a 2-3 year break from PC gaming for me. Still got my disks somewhere though I doubt its still supported.

ETQW was almost the perfect game in my opinion but it was fatally flawed. The character animations were capped at 30 fps and the netcode was pretty crap. Basically the id Tech 4 engine was horrible in comparison to the much smoother id Tech 3 (Quake 3) engine, which COD4 used. COD4 stole most of ETQW fanbase with perks(!) and smoother gameplay.

If Splash Damage note what Valve have done to CSGO re Matchmaking, skins and Overwatch, Dirty Bomb could be successful. However, releasing a F2P game with no active cheat detection i.e. something more than VAC/Punkbuster would be unwise I think.

Ahhhh :( Logged in for the first time in a week or so, stats reset and teh chick with the orbital laser thing is no longer on there. She was the best for stopping the tank!!

I'm playing most evenings, good fun. The stats reset is normal in beta, they have to wipe the servers to maintain them. This won't happen in the full release of course!

I did have beta access for this game and I played it quite a lot, was waiting for spread tweaks etc and I'd like to play it again now but I used a different email address for my Nexon account and have no idea which details I used. Seems a little selfish asking for another key but if you guys still have some kicking around then I'd appreciate it if I could get one, thanks :P
