Dirty Bomb (from the ppl behind ET)

just played my first game, i like it! Hit reg and general feel are great, its very similar to RTCW/ET in terms of play style (as you would expect). Hope they add some sort of competitive mode with ranking and league systems with matchmaking. would be swell

just played my first game, its very like ET and Brink, how many times are SD going to make the same game with a different skin?

That said its pretty dam good, with friends it could be great.

To be fair, Brink was very different to ET. That was the problem. ET was epic, Brink was average - despite having some nice ideas. Dirty Bomb is falling some place in between for me - not a patch on ET or RTCW, but better than Brink.

Brink was ET with some fancy jumping and screwed up net code (on consoles at least I was away from pcs back then). It had no community and died pretty fast on Xbox even though it got patched (too late to recover).

The problem was the lack of accuracy with hipfire, awful maps and little synergy between classes. That's what made RTCW and ET so good - the focus on defending/attacking choke points, clear front lines, and teams sticking and moving together. Brink just became a spammy free for all with no direction, which was a shame as there was plenty of potential. I don't think we're going to see tightly focussed teambased fps like RTCW/ET/CS etc any more. There's too much money in spammy chaotic shooters similar to BF and CoD.
