Holiday is holiday. You're daft doing anything work related while having a break. Sounds like you and your workplace have issues.

I agree with this. The point of being a manager isn't to be contactable at all times. It's actually, I think the mark of a GOOD manager that their staff are fully capable of carrying on without them for short periods.
