Discussion On The ATI Radeon 5*** Series Before They Have Been Released Thread

for some i think that they would still buy it if it was only 1.3 times faster then current gen because of Dx11.

How many of you have a steering wheel and like Dirt 1? Christmas time and dirt 2 on Dx11 sounds good :)

Price pending to be honest.

If that review's real, then it's somewhat disappointing.

Disregarding DX11, you'd get better performance from 2 4890s for less money.

Yeah it's multiple GPUs, but still, it's more performance for less money.

This is what I was thinking and 2 4890's were top of my list for my new rig, so I'll see what crazy price this card comes in at first, if the 4890 drops (which it prob wont immediately) then it makes this look even better.

IMO, a good card form ATI, but if you own a 285/4890 there really is no point going to a 5870, you are not going to notice the difference in the majority of games.

I only really agree with that because the framerates on these cards are so high anyway, the margin in which the 5800 series beats the 4800/200 series cards would provide a reasonable framerate boost if it were actually needed. As it stands, unless you have a 30" monitor, it's not really. I mean the only real example of 'need' is in Crysis and you can see the 5870 over the GTX285 where the respective framerates are 37FPS and 23FPS (this is at 1680x1050 going by the THG benchmarks). But then going from say, 60FPS to 100FPS isn't really needed for the most part.
