Dishonored 2

It is kind of on purpose - after about an hour of play you should have either the blink or agility abilities and/or one or more of the bone charms that increase movement speed (though some of them just offset movement speed penalties).

I must have stopped just as it was about to get interesting. Damn my short attention span! I was being introduced to the resistance (I think), haven't got any powers yet. Might have to start again, it's been years since I played it (although I'm pretty sure w makes you go forward)

I think they mean the tone of the game and the killing styles and whatnot, not necessarily visually dark.

Yeah, I knew that. What I was getting at was, are people aware of the darker themes and what not? There's a lot of content out there, so I was just hoping someone could summarise.

I found the walking speed pretty meh but run wasn't too bad - I just used blink to travel distances quickly which I think you get literally right after where you quit IIRC (though it is much better with blink 2 or agility 2 which takes about another hour or so to get).

A week to go until release, and this thread is a bit quiet? Given that this is one of the best games of it's genre that I've played, I'm really hoping Bethesda don't **** it up in true Bethesda style!

My worry is they will over complicate it or something - part of the charm of the original game was that if you'd played any of the popular games like thief, half-life, etc. you could pretty much jump into it and pick everything up almost instinctively - the videos I've seen of 2 look like they've added extra layers of complexity to the mechanics :(

I could live with that if it's just another skill to master, but if they release with a 30fps lock like they did with The Evil Within, or lack of Gsync or UltraWide support like they have done recently with the latest Skyrim/Fallout 4 games, then I won't be buying it.

I'm really looking forward to it because the new releases this year have been abysmal.

I'm the only person I know that really didn't like the first game. Not sure what it was but something didn't click. Didn't feel great to play and I didn't like the graphical style. I even preferred Thief...and that was a very average game at best.

However, something about this sequel somehow makes me want to give it a chance. I'll probably wait for a sale, but I can't help thinking at some point I'll give this a go.

with only battlefield to play atm i decided to restart the first dishonored game and after a few hours of that i ended up putting a preorder in for this one.
as others have said i really hope they dont mess it up somehow but judging by the first game it should be good!

Personally I don't give two hoots about the graphics, it's going be the same or better than the first so that's good enough for me and anyone that won't buy a game or enjoy it because of a couple of graphics options are cutting their nose off to spite their face!

First game I really enjoyed, had a decent enough story, but it was far too easy. It got to the point where I could just do the same movements over and over and just walk through any level with ease.

I imagine this will be the same.

Can understand some people not clicking with it - the stylistic graphics walk a thin line and the ambience can be a bit dry. It plays a lot better once you get into it proper and have some of the abilities and upgrades, etc. the first hour or two doesn't really show it at its best.

Really looking forward to playing this. After this the next game on my to play list is Resident Evil 7 and Tekken 7.

I agree and as long as its as good as the first one that's okay with me. Although the examples given above were games locked to 30fps and not supporting things like ultra wide, and I really don't think there is any excuse for that!

Pretty tempted to pre-order.

Exactly.

I'm not even sure how anyone could say they don't care about graphics because it's going to be the same or better, I mean... the game isn't released yet, it could be a total flop like Mafia 3 for all we know.

And then people steam in after the event giving it, "I can't believe how bad it is, I can't get a refund because I bought it weeks ago on pre-order".

Pre-ordering is a mug's game, even the incentives to pre-order are a joke... I don't want soundtracks or character costumes/skins... a fully functioning game will be fine, thanks very much.
