Distasteful vegan TV ad

And I suspect that would be the case for most people. Does it hurt for people to be reminded that it's actually an animal they are eating, and not something called 'pork' or 'beef' or 'lamb' that just comes wrapped in a nice little package on a supermarket shelf...

The majority of people wont because they live in the modern world where you dont need to do a lot of stuff, ask that question in the phillipines and the answer will be majority "i've already done it"

The test is to lock a person in a room with an animal, and not open the door, and let them either kill the animal, or starve to death, and in that, everyone would.

That’s like saying everyone would kill someone else if a gun was to their head, I don’t believe everyone would.

Well I eat meat, but would you eat it if you had to kill it yourself?
Absolutely. I’ve never had to butcher an animal but I’ve given myself a rough idea how through YouTube etc just in case I ever found myself in a situation where I had to, however unlikely that would be.

Don't have to go back many generations and that was what people often did - even my dad's generation killing and eating your own chickens, etc. wasn't entirely unusual. Many people still fish and eat their catches, etc.

I can't remember what brand it is for but there is a meat alternative ad recently with a puppet pig at the end saying something about don't even wonder about the alternative which is kind of amusing.

My wife has many fond memories of her grandad raising a pig each year for Xmas. It got a pet name and the family would play with it up until December then it was lip licking time...
Just cos us city folks are so disjointed from the delicious meaty reality doesn't mean everyone is.
Everyone up here is a hunter and when the season starts it's moose blasting time.... It's so bloody expensive.

The real test should be: locked into a room with a pig, you both have guns, a briefcase full of unmarked $100 bills totaling $750k, 1 kg of the finest columbian cocaine...2 plane tickets to Rio.

Yes. I've done it a few times. Not my favourite thing to do but I know I can do it. I won't lie, it's nice not to have to do it and think about it when I go to the butcher. However, I'm fully aware of where my food comes from. This is why I like Asia where they literally eat every part of the animal. At least it doesn't go to waste.

I just watched the ad. Had no impact what so ever because I already know that I eat meat and where it comes from so a reminder is... pointless.

I grew up in the countryside so maybe it's different for some?
