Divinity Original Sin

Does anyone know if INT increases skilll points available per level?

No I'm fairly sure it doesn't. I think you get 1 skill point per character lvl, up to lvl 6 and then 2 skill points every lvl there after (maybe more at later lvls).

I've still not worked out how to craft yet. Loads of mats and I've read quite a few books on cooking.

Really enjoying this at the moment, taking everything slowly, actually reading books and text for once is such a refreshing change.

The game seems to have such a level of depth, simple things like cooking, crafting, smithing etc are all superbly done.

IF anything will break my immersion tho its turning into a rock when your sneaking around :p solid snake eat your heart out.

Im not sure what my morality is when playing, in the conversations im more orless going the way i want, im not exactly roleplaying my chars as arguing etc, i just pick the option i feel is right and make sure they all agree with that, so thats avoided any rock paper scissors.

Whats the deal with stealing in this game, is there a penalty for it? I see lots of red icons when im in peoples homes etc and always wonder what happens if i pick stuff up that i shouldnt etc.

Thoroughly enjoying the game so far, need to do a bit of reading up tho on my choices of points and talents as im just winging it at the moment

Crafting based on 1 hour's play and some random interwebs reading:

1) Have at least level one in crafting/blacksmithing
2) Drop things on other things in your inventory (the example I've personally used in-game is branch + knife = 3 arrow shafts, then arrowhead + poison vial = poison arrowhead, then poison arrowhead + arrow shaft = poison arrow)

I believe you can also use blacksmith's grinding wheels in town to improve weapons and so on, but most of the actual crafting is done in-inventory.

Weapon damage/armour level is based on your character level and crafting skill - I think from crafting skill 5 you get items with stat bonuses on.

Edit:

Stealing:
AFAIK (so maybe wrong) red icon means it's stealing, but you're only punished if anyone sees you (reputation takes a hit). You can even nick things when someone's back is turned then immediately sell it to them I think.

ha ha im so trying that stealing and selling back, the more i read im a bit bummed i didnt have an archer in my starting 2, im hoping i can recruit one later on.

So far i have my starting witch and cleric both level 4 with a wizard we recruited who is level 5

I noticed you can sharpen swords etc at the grindstone and ive found a few different whetstones which im assuming allow me to sharpen or imbue my blade without the wheel?

While in my opinion it has a few flaws that hold it back from true all-time-classic status Divinity: Original Sin is an excellent, beautifully designed and engaging RPG that absolutely never gets boring. The main story could be better told, companions could be more interesting (and just more), and while refreshingly free it could at least offer some better directions for important things or highlight crucial items. Nevertheless the inventive and always unique combat, the witty and humorous writing, the two player characters, the thoroughly engaging world and the sense that you're allowed to do whatever you want to keep Original Sin in the realms of must-play territory. It's also absolutely huge: it took me 23 hours just to discover the next area of the map (and I hadn't even finished exploring half of the surrounding area of Cyseal)! Whether playing single-player or co-op it's utterly great, and while not quite RPG of 2014 (South Park: The Stick of Truth is already a little better in my view, and that's before we get the likes of Dragon Age: Inquisition, Wasteland 2 and Pillars of Eternity) any self-respecting RPG gamer absolutely has to buy this game. There's a She-Orc Librarian who talks like an upper-class British school mistress for god's sake..

If someone is near you, even if they aren't looking at you, you need to be stealthed to do it. This includes opening any doors or containers that have a red cursor. You'll be immediately unstealthed though if you enter their field of view, regardless of stealth level.

Random tip: 2 - 3 people in a small room? Unlink your party and have each one talk to a different NPC to make them face away, then use the other party to steal and pickpocket them all :p

Okay I was going to buy BG2 Enhanced ... should I just skip and get this instead?

I would say get Divinity based on the glowing reviews all over the 'net :)

Secondly, if you want BG2 don't just consider the "enhanced edition" because it's really just a cash-in re-release. They even managed to add new bugs :p

BG2 vanilla has mods available to support widescreen res and better UI. And you can pick up the D&D complete pack from some places for as little as £6. Includes:

BG
BG2
IWD
IWD2
PS:T
ToEE

So what you're telling me is to buy both? Sold! :D

Going to start this later on tonight after the football, wanting to play a caster. Best class?

Doesn't really matter, you can morph them into anything you want from the very start. Think of classes as just having a small leg up into whatever the start as.

I'm stuck I think.

Done more or less all the quests in the first town and my chars are around level 11 .. my lowest level quest involves level 13 / 14 spiders..

there is another quest I can do where you need to heal a
demon
but I can't find any information regarding what to use to heal it.. don't suppose anyone knows?

Realised I am at 15 hours playtime (ok I re-rolled and played the tutorial dungeon twice) and still haven't left the first town.

Epic game.

I believe one of your party members joined you with the condition that you don't make deals with any demons. ;)
