Divinity Original Sin

The game is great.

On my first game I picked a fighter tank and a mage type as my 'support' got absolute steam rolled on some of encounters with lots of mobs, it was way to hard and I'm only playing on normal.

So I restarted yesterday with a ranger and a fire wizard? or battle mage (w/e) and it is a lot more enjoyable as I can actually kill stuff now.

Does anyone know an easier way to kill boars though? They are quiet susceptible to fire damage but what else in terms of melee? piercing maybe? or are they just quiet tanky?

I agree this game ticks so many right boxes. really enjoying it! no silly quest markers or anything like that, you actually need to read the books you pick up and your journal.

hoping that it gets an active mod community.

First game that got me for ages. 20+ hours in and still in the first town.

Might have missed it but is there anyway to change the attack order during battles? (space just save your points and moves to next character)

Thanks

Here is update v1.0.53

Hello everybody,

As we enter the weekend, here's an update that should solve several problems some of you have been experiencing.

- Fix for wrong alignments (this should also fix existing save games). This for instance solves the problems with the bone totem in the Luculla Mines.
- Local chat is auto-enabled
- Greatly reduced memory usage for Win32 systems. This should lead to more stability.
- Fixed crash when a destroyed item was still in the skillbar
- Fixed a rare crash on level swap
- Fixed a crash when crafting in two inventories at the same time
- Fixed a crash when disarming trap while it detonates
- Fixed a crash for fleeing while invisible
- Fixed graphical artefacts on characters on the Mac version
- Fixed low-res terrain textures
- Fixed crash in multiplayer menu
- Disabled casting a skill when another is busy
- Teleport will now ignore the teleported item for AI grid checks
- No combines anymore in the trade window
- Added Staff of Magus to all henchman
- Fixed rare crash when summoning
- Better feedback for item combinations
- Fixed fleeing with a summon
- Changed font color in dialogs for better readability

Divinity Engine Toolkit changes

- Fixed some exceptions
- Fixed terrains not showing up when loading levels from the main game

We also posted 7 tutorial videos [www.larian.com] on the Larian forums that will help you understand the things you can do with the toolkit. More videos are incoming.

All the previously mentioned issues were sorted, thanks to the brilliant devs. This is, by far, the best RPG I've played in a very, very long time. The quests force you to dig into the world to solve them, the possibility of failing some of them is constatantly there and it can happen after something as small as a failed conversation, the combat is fluid, natural but at the same time complex as it allows plenty of room for both error and "good plays".

If there are RPG fans who have not bought this yet, do it, you muppets! :D

Is this only available for £30 on Steam? GOG are getting it soon (?) but no idea on price.

As good as everyone says it is, £30 is just too dear for me.

Old-school fantasy role-playing game Divinity: Original Sin is Larian Studios' fastest-selling title ever, the developer has confirmed to Eurogamer.

The £29.99 game launched proper on 30th June after a stint as a Steam Early Access title, and has already shifted 160,000 copies. At the time of publication it was the top-selling game on Steam.

And it's already approaching profitability, Larian boss Swen Vincke told Eurogamer. Divinity: Original Sin cost around €4m to make, following a successful Kickstarter that raised just under $1m.

"It's doing pretty well," Vincke said. "We're very happy about it. And to be honest we didn't expect it. We thought it was going to do well but not this well.

"It's definitely the fastest-selling game we've ever published. The last figures I saw we were at 160,000. For us that's pretty good. We're definitely going to break even and hopefully we'll make sufficient profit for our next game."
Just proves that if you make a good product/game people will buy it.

They have probably broke even and far surpassed that by now, and I hope they get loads more, they definitely deserve it.

I hesitated about the £30, but then I remembered spending the same for just 2 hours entertainment in the cinema with the gf. This game will give me 50 hours +. Definitely worth it.

Hmm, having just read this:

http://www.gog.com/forum/general/getting_back_to_our_roots/page1

it seems that it will be a fair bit cheaper on GOG, as they will use US pricing for all regions (giving store credit if it's more expensive due to forced regional pricing).

Which is perfect for me. I really don't like the idea of the CD key sites - they seem sooooo dodgy :p

If anyone is stuck in the immaculate quest with the ROT and pressure panels

On the first - Fat looking vase
Second right - 2LB item needs to be placed
Third left of blue wall - A big heavy Barrel
Fourth smallest panel - a 1lb item

Divinity Original Sin -can't find any reviews on the web.
Ign has one but there is no score.
Played the game in alpha, and I expected I bit more.

Apparently the review copies were sent out the day before the general game release, so none of the major (or minor for that matter) game sites have had a chance to review it. It is a pretty long game, so I expect reviews to start appearing later this week.

It is *very* high on the metacritic user scores right now (9.3!), but they had a very limited marketing budget apparently they only had enough coin for two ads (one of which I noticed was on Rock, Paper, Shotgun) - so it will be very interesting to see how the big sites like IGN score it.

I've been struggling to find something that makes me want to play it. I bought this at the weekend, hoping it does the trick and I can't put it down. So far I'm enjoying it.

im still torn by it, i find that i am struggling to find games that keep me hooked and i dunno if an old skool rpg will be the one.

Having said that listening to the early impressions here it sounds positive, are the majority of people here playing co-op or going it alone?

I love the little touches ive seen in some previews like being able to throw items around in the environment to make obstacles, start fires etc

Sum1 convince me this is the game that will keep me hooked where others have failed :)
