Veryrealisticcinematic 20fps indeed
Looks like a bloke with that jawline and chin imo.![]()

That looks good but is there a before image to compare?
For performance reason, usually. And guess what DLSS5 kills by doing it? It literally does the thing that devs could do, but decided not to for performance reason, and cost even more than if they would actually do it themselves. Where's the logic in that? The advantage would be that you'd get cinematic quality (or above) for in-game characters, a thing that games don't do at all for whatever reason.

But you don't. Even on 5090 in some games with PT this will choke. So, if you have the spare performance, it could work.
You can mod it in many games and people already did (as visible online). Results are... hilariously horrifying. It seems so far this leaked version of DLSS 5 can work only in specific subset of games because it's been pruned and distilled to tiny size and it's very specialised (which is EXACTLY what I said would happen!). Then, it horribly falls apart in anything outside that small scope of what it can process with its tiny brain. It mostly works well on games that are presenting more realistic faces, anything more artsy and it just doesn't know what to do with it.More on that, if you can mod it in any game, that 50% is about there or less to what you'll lose with RT/PT, depending on title. Raster + this = doable. Unless... nVIDIA limits it to 5xxx or 6xxx series.
Stock face lighting is really bad in this game, I have to say, shadows missing, looks very flat. That is not a hardware or performance issue, that's really bad implementation which could be done WAY better.DLSS 5 injected into Wuchang Fallen Feathers

I don't see why they couldn't just make it in game (plenty of games did) without the need for any filters. As in, the outcome doesn't really have anything that wouldn't be possible in their stock engine with a bit more work.AFTER

Also cars or space ships etc, would it make the materials look more real.Curious if it can do monsters and aliens that tech, imagine a more real lookin xenomorph in that alien isolation game. Also cars or space ships etc, would it make the materials look more real.
It doesn't just work on faces and characters...you can see how much more natural the forest scene looks in the TLOU2 demo.Curious if it can do monsters and aliens that tech, imagine a more real lookin xenomorph in that alien isolation game. Also cars or space ships etc, would it make the materials look more real.
Yeah that's not how lighting works. Sure you can go to town on baked static lighting (which has been done in games for decades)....but dynamic lighting e.g. anything where the light sources move, has to be dynamic.Tbh the devs could just use this tech with a plugin into a 3d modelling software and apply the trick then just bake the textures on, and get rid of the need for a powerful gpu for real time usage. Since its just a overlay really on the textures (simplified i know, reason). But it might work and then cost no performance. :/
Judging what it did to artsy human faces (like in FF games) - no, it can't, it already falls apart on those a bit less realistic and more anime style games. It's currently too small to handle such variety, and it seems any bigger will be too slow. They likely could add more models, but then it wouldn't be mix and match, it would be pick one for whole scene - either humans or aliens etc. The more stuff you want to add to the model the bigger and slower it gets. This is already as distilled and pruned as they could get away with, it seems. And if you want to keep it small and fast whilst adding more things - it will become more and more generic as "neurons" inside will haved to serve many different thnings instead of just focus on hair, or eyes of humans, etc. By now we know very well how those generative AI models work, there's no silver bullet there - it's always some compromises. You simply can't stuff unlimited amount of detailed information in the same size of a model, it will start averaging things, becoming more and more generic and less and less detailed if you do that. Which NVIDIA knows very well, that is why they have a bunch of those models to choose from in DLSS 5, to match them to the scene.Curious if it can do monsters and aliens that tech, imagine a more real lookin xenomorph in that alien isolation game. Also cars or space ships etc, would it make the materials look more real.
You can't get rid of the traditional GPU YET (but that is what NVIDIA is pushing for eventually it seems?). But lot of studios are already doing part of it anyway, with already available generative AI for assets, textures, etc. - cost cutting, time saving etc. as why pay an artist when you can have AI generate it all for you?Tbh the devs could just use this tech with a plugin into a 3d modelling software and apply the trick then just bake the textures on, and get rid of the need for a powerful gpu for real time usage.
Same with voice acting in games - why pay voice actor when you can just pay them once to record voice samples and apply to as many games as you want? It's not theory, this is already a thing and artists along with voice actors are really not happy about it but... still do it, because some monies > no monies. It changes the lighting of the scene too a bit along with few other details, as shown on videos presenting it in modded games.Since its just a overlay really on the textures (simplified i know, reason). But it might work and then cost no performance. :/

Plus how different really is the performance hit compared to mobile phones face filters for example. If a mobile phone can do em real time basically why would it cost loads of performance if it only did faces for pc game use? Maybe a bit more involved for sure but similar feature at its heart aint it?

So do you think ppl will need a gpu if say they use that nvidia gaming streaming thing is it called geforce now? Where you just stream games to pc instead of needing to run them locally, would that be a goal of nvidia?
LOL I thought this was a meme and actual photoDeath Stranding 2, Bit buggy as there's flicker but it looks great.
