Do you wear earplugs?

If I use motorways in the future maybe, but currently my commute is all 30/40mph so never even thought about it. Can't say I'm bothered much by wind noise at those speeds.

I have a custom set, I think they were about £80 as I already have the impressions. I used to use foam plugs but they quickly get dirty and lose their sponginess!

I'm tempted to get some Ultimate Ear plugs. £60, plus the cost of the moulds, for the "Squiggy" 30db reduction version.

Do you have to get the moulds done professionally? It's the cost of getting them done that way that puts me off custom earplugs.
So not many use the custom moulded ones? I got a cheap silicone kit and made a pair the other day but are they any good?
On the flip side... I've read some horror stories about 'mould your own' silicon plugs as they can cause a vacuum in your ear canal when moulding.

Looking at their site it seems you either get it done at their Orpington office, £15 extra, or get it done by one of their agents and that costs a minimum of £25.

I hope they've made an error on that offer as 1 pack of 20 pairs for £2.85 is one thing but 2 packs of 20 pairs at £11.98 is not exactly double :D I always thought the more you bought the cheaper it became

Option 2 is the correct price for a pack of 100, so presumably option 3 is for 200 but that would be a very good price.

Not really on journeys less than 30mins.

I do/did/will use sound-cancelling earphones with either music or navigation on for over 30mins as I couldn't stand getting off the bike and hardly being able to hear!

they do come out,its when you lift your helmet off they catch and pull them out, same for a neck tube, atleast for me anyway

they are good at blocking out engine noises and rattles, ideal for ducati owners:D

You're using them wrong then :p

Mine are too far in my ears to be seen from the front, and there's no chance of them catching on anything.

They don't block out anything other than the wind (white) noise, everything else is slightly quieter but definitely not muffled. I can have a conversation with them in.

Either some people have wide ear canals or they're not putting the earplugs in properly

They almost certainly aren't putting them in properly. If you try to wedge them in without rolling them up tight enough they only go in a bit and pushing them harder just compresses them lengthways rather than pushing it further into your ear. As the foam relaxes, it pushes itself back out of your ear. The best tip I've ever had was to roll them up and give them a lick - they virtually fall into your ears then, it makes it way easier.

Properly installed they should not be visibly sticking out of your ear at all, so won't catch on your helmet when you put it on or take it off.
