Do you wear earplugs?

After spending 45 mins on the M6 I think I will have to buy some. I tried out the Givi screen that was thrown in with my bike and find it much more comfy but all the air seems to be directed to my head and ducking down the whole time isn't ideal.

I did try but they kept falling out when I put the helmet on and if I managed to get them to stay in, then they'd fall out onto the dirty floor when I took my helmet off. It's a right pain.

My journey's are 10 minutes long so it's not too bad. I guess I should try again.

If your using the foam type
you roll them in your thumb and finger 3/4 of there length.
you leave a little unrolled so they don't go into the ear to far.
hold it in place a few seconds for them to start expanding in the ear and they will never come out till you want them too.

I have never had one come out in years of use

What sort are you trying? If it's the foam type, follow this:

If fitted correctly, there's no way on earth they should be falling out at any point - putting helmet on, taking it off, running around, doing anything in fact other than pulling them out with your fingers.

I have (had) a pair of custom moulded ear plugs that I was planning on wearing as I thought they'd be ultra comfortable and they don't change the sound/noise you hear only lowering the volume (I wear them as I'm in a band, they don't change what you hear only they stop it from damaging you). However one got lost/stolen from my rehearsal room and now I have to buy another pair at £150 :(

I was reminded this morning how awesome a brand new pair of earplugs feels (and sounds) like. No booming from the exhaust, zero wind noise, just comfy with enough noise from the exhaust and surroundings.

I did try the ones you mould to your ear but I found the first ones I tried went rock hard in my hands. So next up I tried with cold hands. got them to fit but I found when I checked my blind spot they used to pop out.

I then got some re-usable ones but they anything over 30mins and they start to hurt so I've gone to disposables. 35 SNR Moldex 7403. I started with a trial pack to see what ones worked best. Just order 200 pairs of these ones as they're good for riding and also when I go to LAN to deal with snoring.

If anyone wants to try a pair let me know. They're the small ones so may not work for everyone.

Probably should now, I was rather deaf coming off the motorway the other day :p. I can still hear my engine over the wind noise so it's all good.

My new screen virtually eliminates buffeting for me now and one other consequence of this is the noise in my lid has reduced a fair bit. I still prefer to ride with earplugs once I go out of town but if I forget to put them in, as I do occasionally, I won't be looking for the first place to stop to get them back in.

im new to riding but i tried with earplugs and didnt like it, i like to hear whats coming and whats around me if anyone can relate, i wear earplugs at work allday and im not a fan of that either ha

Decent earplugs should still allow you to hear what's going on, I've worked in night clubs a lot and always wear ear plugs. Everyone that tries to talk to me just seems to stare blankly until I take them out but it's much much easier to actually hear them over the music with them in as they only filter out the rubbish background noise.

Then you're using the wrong plugs as they should still allow you to hear everything.
