Doctor Who

BBC have debunked it on twitter.

Just had a sad thought, season 8 probably won't start until some time next year. I'd been thinking it would start some time around September like it did last year but i guess that's out the window until Smith is gone after the Xmas Special.

Matt Smith never came across as a force to be feared. He just shouted at things.

(Here's hoping to a darker, more malevolent (and older) Doctor.)

I always wanted nesbitt I thought he was scary as hell in jekyll
check out "Jekyll - First Encounter " on youtube, can't link it because of bad language

If that's the case, then he just has the 50th anniversary and the Christmas special left. To be honest, I don't think it matters who is cast. Unless the writing improves, with the best actor alive it would still be poor.

John Hurt has "technically" already been a doctor so that isn't really possible without some utterly ridiculous twist.

Technically speaking, we know he has "been" a doctor, we also know that he did something bad and from his tone feels remorse for it. But due to the temporal events surrounding the encounter we do not know if he has "been" a doctor before or AFTER smith.

I would love to see the role played by Christopher Lloyd (the doc from back to the future), or by Christopher Walken (I thought Peter Cushing's performance as the doctor was very good wand would envision Walken's to be similar), my first choice would have been Partick Moore but sadly that ship has sailed.

The new Doctor is being revealed this Sunday on a special called "Doctor Who Live: The Next Doctor" at 7pm on BBC1

Wow. Whatever happened to the art of suspense?

This is how the current Doctor was also revealed.

The art of suspense died many, many years ago and the press will be going out of their way right now trying to spoil it and get a reveal before the weekend.
For some reason the press etc seem to think we enjoy having things spoilt from us.

Quick example - when Who Want to be a Millionaire first started I was pretty addicted. Watching regularly and wondering if I'd ever see anyone get to 1m.
Before I know it the press is reporting back that someone had managed to won it. All enjoyment lost, the surprise spoilt.

We get used to it I suppose - but I try and avoid any chat about a program I'm interested in because somebody will attempt to spoil it.

Current favourite according to BBC is Peter Capaldi

I can only hope they don't have the first black or female doctor "just for the sake of it". The person really has to fit the role.
