Doctor Who

It's silly, but I'm not sure it's stupid as such.

I'm never quite sure what people are hoping for with Doctor Who. It's light family sci fi. It's entertaining enough, but I'm not sure I'd ever try to take it terribly seriously.

It's the tartan skirt that really does it for me. Also Davies pushing the gay agenda?

Yeah, he's had the lizard/human lesbian couple going for a while now. It seems awfully silly that they've ended up doing it as some cross species thing. Presumably they couldn't do it if they were both human, they wouldn't get away with it.

The plot was muddled, and it had the usual lack of believable peril for Dr Who, but I felt Capaldi has a lot of potential despite being given too much to do in a single episode. Not sure what the grievance is with the lesbians - think it's encouraging that the BBC is comfortable presenting homosexual relationships to a family audience via one of its big shows.

Incorrect, they had an entire series where a new homosexual couple were part of the monster of the week style episode.
I recall one military one, where one was called, one and the other, the other one. Which oddly suggested in the far far future homo in military wasnt accepted. Odd if you are pushing a gay agenda.

I recall a gay couple at a pub.
Other gay entities, mainly pushed very hard at you.
Which again makes them seem unreal, as if gay on tv must be odd rather than 'normal' makes me dislike the introduction of such characters, why not have a normal character who happens to be gay, which for the most part the lizard and her wife were, and hopefully will remain to be.

And, obviously, Captain Jack Harkness.

I thought the episode was good. On par with previous openers. Coleman and Capaldi played off each other well and the episode has already planted seeds for the rest of the series.

So,

Who is Missy...

New character?
Master?
TARDIS!?

As soon as the Lizard species and the Sontaran showed up I immediately lost interest in the whole episode. Sorry but everytime I see them, they just put me off. They look crap period and just don't do anything to really improve things.

I prefer episodes that are serious and centered around humans, without silly comedy music and daft looking species - ie. the empty child, or that van gogh episode.

I'll carry on watching because I couldn't stand dancy wancy Matt Smith.

As above, i groaned when i saw a dinosaur in London - yawn, and then the Victorian times with the mystery machine bunch - yawn (although Strax has his moments!) I don't like the new intro and music either :(

I think Capaldi has potential if they follow a darker route, he also had some very good lines, my issues are that I'm sure i missed some of them as i struggle to understand him :(

His accent, he is also quiet when speaking, but also fast with it :(

Couple of good past references, long scarves, wants more round things on the Tardis etc ;) Also noticed they stole Trigger's infamous broom story!!

I didn't like the victorian theme but quite enjoyed Capald, thought he played the first episode well and showed a decent direction for the new doctor.

It was utterly plot free for the first 35 mins it accelerated after that and redeemed itself a little. But the crap writing and the usual gayism is superior tosh harks back to the worst of Matt Smith. I think the producers have let the cast down the last few years. No change is obvious from episode 1.

I enjoyed it.

I liked the droid and the story wasn't so bad for me. I watch doctor who from week to week as it should be, rather than this utopian branded sci-fi universe ideal that every show has to be in these days.

I found some of the writing was done in a way and manner for Matt Smith to pull off and not comfortable for Capaldi, other than that I liked him. Made a good first impression.

How long will the honeymoon last?
