Doctor Who

I thought that was brilliant. So much action and intrigue. They weird stuff in Ireland with the Guarda was interesting. They seem to not die or age, and then, after he aged it was like they erased his memory and reset him. I am looking forward to next week, to find out where it's all going.

I realise it's all subjective, but you have to either be a.) five years old or b.) on a wind-up to say that this crap is 'brilliant'. Literally everything about it, the writing, the setting, the acting, the story are lamentably bad.

I am neither of those two things. I am 38 and a fan of Doctor Who since I first saw Colin Baker as the 6th.

You might not be enjoying it but there are other people that do. You only have to look on FB for the comments on the official page or check a Who forum.

I do not find anything you said bad.

I gave up half way through that episode. I think I am just becoming a grumpy old man in my early thirties but there is only so much belief I can suspend. I don't really care about any of the characters, the Doctor has no teeth and is a bumbling idiot 99% of the time and everything about it is just lazy and badly done. There is so much good TV that I haven't watched that I can't be bothered to watch crap like this.

I know there is a balance to be had but you can always find a forum that agrees with you sentiment on a show. Hell, some people enjoyed Mars Attacks.

As is the way with a lot of the younger fans of these shows, they don't like anyone saying anything against it if they like it. They don't want any dissenting views. The sentiment is "leave us to enjoy our amazing, perfect show and don't say anything negative against it".

Who has always been a bit hit and miss but its just a culmination of so many things that has made me give up on it. Female doctor? Couldn't care less. Slapping me in the face repeatedly with flavour of the day messages and some of the most non-sensical writing I have ever seen on Doctor who. I'll give it a miss.

Its just a shame that so many of these classic shows are being "updated" to the age of woke in the most ham-fisted way possible.

if it was about equality I would be all for it but it's not, it's about taking it away from the men.....which is wrong...so wrong :P
So many strong female women in doctor who but no not good enough they had to take away the male role..pfffttt.
Killing of James Bond? where was the need, they could have just made a new franchise called Jane Bond?

I think the problem is that for some people, the only way you can be sure that a character is a strong female is by that character clearly and obviously putting a man down. There have been so many strong female characters in so many series and sci-fi has done this very well for years and yet this sort of crap still happens. Thats what annoys people.

She was the prominent main character that the film revolved around. In what way is that not being pushed in your face?

I can't believe you are going down this road. By your "wisdom" any female character who is not a bit part could be accused of being pushed in your face.

A strong character is a strong character. When you don't think about their gender every 5 minutes and just enjoy the character you have done it well.

When you have things like

Character 1: "wow, hes quite the pilot"
Character 2: "yes SHE is"

Its like a sledgehammer. The funny thing is that show have managed to deal with this issue for years really well without it sticking out like a sore thumb. Its like audiences now can't understand undertones or implied narrative. Want to make 2 characters appear like they have known each other a long time, one of them will use a cringy nickname that they say at every opportunity.

oh get over yourself, it when a male character is switched to a female character in the name of equality that's the problem...make your own bloody show don't take away from the invested fan base to make a political statement to teenagers...adults can see what you are all about.

Battlestar Galactica managed just fine with a gender swapped main role. Yes people complained and moaned, but the show was fantastic.
