Doctor Who

Didn't they call them cyberdrones

Well that was certainly something.

So here's what I propose, Chibnal is replaced by any combination of big finish regulars, Jodie gets (at least) one series under a different showrunner and when it's time for her to go she regenerates into Ruth who immediately realises everything that just transpired was a lie and we never speak of it again, like that whole half human incident with eight.

Jodie is still not a good Doctor. I know that the writing is not helping her but her constant "kooky" chat is doing my head in. Adds nothing to the show and kills any tension they might have managed to create. Still comes across as a bumbling idiot 99% of the time and her band of merry men seem more capable than she is.

The only remotely clever idea in that episode was

The cybermen from gallifrey. And why can people suddenly come and go into the tardis at will. The tardis has always been a fortress that is basically impenetrable.

As someone who has made my views very well known and has only watched one scene of the latest series, is it worth catching up with the last two episodes?

They are probably the best episodes of the season, and I enjoyed them. With regards to the "lore" I think it's been integrated as well as it could be, although still not sure how I feel about it.

I thought Ian McElhinney stole the show, shame it looks like his character will not be taken further.

The last two episodes were slightly better than the preceding ones, but still not brilliant. The pace seems off, everything frantic and as for the companions they seem more like a bunch of by standing tourists. I had seen a rumour that one of them was to have been killed off (I would have voted off Bradley Walsh) but that seems to have been misdirection. Jodie is just all wrong as the Doctor. Even when she is trying to be serious, she has no gravitas or air of authority about her. At least the SJW messages have decreased as the series went on, but they couldn't help themselves with the evolution of the "Timeless Child" featuring just about every ethnic type with white males firmly in the minority.

That’s my main gripe. Everything is just so back and forth constantly between scenes. It’s far too frantic for a full 50 minutes.

Then you have the 3 companions each stood there doing nothing with a number of pointless lines each per episode. Not one of them in awe, in wonder at the power of the universe, the planets, the alien races. Don’t even think any of them have questioned how they can speak to the aliens.

With regards to the lore. It’s all over the place and tends to go against everything as well. It’s kind of like watching GOT season 8. Some episodes have been half decent, others have been downright crap.

IMO its somewhat better than last season but still no where near as good as previous seasons, especially when you go back and watch them again you realise how good it was.

This pretty much sums it up for me. I did like the Tesla episode and the haunted house one was not too bad. Overall this season has been better than the last, but let's be fair, it does not take much!

The lore changes were explained in an OK way but it opens up a lot more questions. At the same time it essentially gives the Doctor unlimited regenerations, solving that one for the future and I always felt the Doctor was more important than "just another Timelord" so that bit works I guess.

Not a bad thing imo - 3 companions (or certainly these 3), was just too much for the most part. Graham was just there for the Comedy aspect imo, Ryan I'm not sure what purpose he really served, leaving Yaz as the stronger slightly interesting character.

Given how many people the Doctor meets who essentially become "companions" for the duration of the episode, 3 companions was too much and dilutes down whatever presence/screen time the Doctor should have anyway.
