Doctor Who

New Doctor is too young

Hopefully less gay stuff without Davies.

Tennant really hard act to follow.

Bits they have shown of the new Doctor so far have not made me warm to him. Hope the actual programmes are better.

New Doctor is too young

I don't get this line of thinking by some people. The character himself is over 900 years old so the physical age of the actor makes no difference in that respect, if its a question of acting ability in relation to age, surely its better to watch a few episodes before casting judgement tbh

Indeed davies did have some weird story/character ideas

They've shown a few teasers that are like a minute or so or less and a small clip from episode 6 iirc, its hardly much to decide whether hes good for the role or not tbh.

As a long time fan of the classic series of Doctor Who, when I found out they were going to be bringing it back I was looking forward to it. I watched a few episodes of Christopher Eccleston's series and a few episodes of David Tennant's series, I disliked both and have disliked all of 'New Who' upto now.

But this new guy actually looks the part and reminds me a lot of Patrick Troughton and the old Doctors, this new series is starting to look a lot like the classic series for me, the vibes I'm getting from it is that Steven Moffat is actually making the show have a lot more in common with the classic series than Russell T Davies did, so I'm seeing this new series as a proper merging of classic and new Who and I'm actually really looking forward to it, as opposed to my indifference for the Russell T Davies 'era'.

Not a major fan here. But the recent doctors seem to be a little like the 70's... Tom Baker was great and then it went downhill. Ecclestone was great and really revived the series with a darker element. I think Tennant is brilliant and on a par with Tom Baker.

But this sounds like they are going back to the comical Sylvester McCoy days. They could ruin this again.

The only explanation of Russell T Davis is that he was on crack with most of the scripts he wrote. They never had the budget to cover what he put in and it all just looked ridiculous.

Looking forward to it, Moffat is a much better storyteller than Davis, and I'm liking the new doctor/companion combination from what I have seen so far.

Can't wait until tonight.

Bit puzzled about the new tardis. Will be interesting to see how the story for it works out.

I thought the old tardis was stuck as a police box because its chameleon circuit was broken, but if he has to effectively regenerate/rebuild the tardis , surely it would be working as a normal tardis should again?

the doctor can fix the chameleon circuit at anytime, he just chooses to leave it as it as as he likes it.

Also if they were to change it from a police box it would mean more money on costs for props/effects.

Not to mention the fact that the police box is kind of the icon for doctor who, so that will never change as its so recognisable. It's like coca cola changing from red cans or microsoft changing their windows logo, its not gonna happen.

The interior of the Tardis remodeling itself is not a new thing, it's happened during numerous regenerations or periods of damage. It's worth remembering (although it's not been raised so often in the new Who) that the Tardis is alive...

Despite the shape of his head I'm really looking forward to seeing him in action. If the reviews of the first episode are anything to go by he's going to be absolutely fantastic and with Moffat in charge we could be on to a winner.
