well i have rung ocuk and informed me that the ati 4850 wont work in a pci express 1.0a slot mobo.so thats a bummer![]()
PCIe 2.0 is backward and forward compatible with PCIe v1.x. Graphic cards and motherboards designed for v2.0 will be able to work with v1.1 and v1.0, and vice versa. In some rare cases it is possible that a PCI-E 2.0 card will not work correctly on a PCI-E 1.0a slot. This is only limited to certain video cards.
I have a 8800GTS 512 (PCI Express 2.0) and it wouldn't work in my old ASrock motherboard, which I believe was PCI Express 1.0.

Well, my 8800GT and 8800GTS G92 which is pci-e 2 worked fine in it although at the time of 8800GT launch there was some debate then as well.
Pci-e 2 is meant to be a standard so I can't see why a 4850 wouldn't unless ATI broke the standard?![]()
