Does anyone here have no interest in computer stuff?

Because I don't, which makes reading these forums quite ironic, but still a good read.

Up until about 17 I thought they were great - passed the time by playing lots of games and trying to make it faster etc. I also went the 'hmm, I'm quite good with computers; I'll take this route after my GCSE's'. Doh!

I think it's because I didn't get a PC until I was about 14/15 (lol) and it kind of took over.

Now though, I can't get away from them quick enough. Got rid of the computer last year and bought a laptop with integrated graphics. Just use it for word and browsing the net.

Don't really know the reason for this post, just wondered if anyone else was in the same boat? Having to go into college everyday and write mahoosive assignments about things you're no longer interested is a real drag.

Can't wait to get into uni and start something new. Will never have to document and program anything again. \0/

Funny how we change...

Used to have. I now have a career in them and use the PC here for nothing but browsing.

I went through a phase like that when I was 15. It lasted about 6 months :p.

I was chatting to a chap once who owned a 600bhp modified Nissan Skyline. He reckoned there was something oddly blissful about going back to a nice standard Ford Focus for a few days and not having to worry about boost, fuelling, ignition timings... It wasn't long until he was hankering after his Skyline again though.

I have to admit, I'm not really into PCs in the same 'enthusiast' kind of way I once was. It's large networks, servers and distributed applications that really do it for me :D.

I'm not really into PC's. I very rarely head outside the "Life" section. The forums are a good read though, you dont have to be into computers to read them

used to love everything about them, now I have very specific interests in them. Doing desktop support for 5 years has killed my enthusiasm for desktop troubleshooting issues :D

I did until about 3 1/2 years ago...When I started a career in IT.

Now I'm so far out of the loop it's insane...My main Pc is an AMD XP1800+ (JIUHB core at a stock 1.53GHz. Bite me, overclocking peons! ;)) that's six years old...

Exactly the same as me ! :p

*bloody users.. grr*

I have no real interest in them now. I still build PC's and help people out now and again but for myself I just use mine for accessing the internet/MSN, making music compilations for in the car and the odd game of AOE II.

Hence running a P4 2.4C, 1gb DDR400, ATI Radeon 9200 160gb IDE and a DVDRW. Old hat.

My interest in them has waned somewhat over the last few years. I still like to have a nice pc but I'm not interested in having latest and greatest. There's no fun in building PCs once you've done it a few hundred times, in fact I had one arrive (form OcUK I might add) this morning for my younger sister. A few years ago that would have been built by now, tbh I really can't be arsed. Sorry sis, your gona have to wait :p

I had an interest when I had more time.

I am now working within IT (Infrastructure Manager) and, ironically, rairly work with computers. I have a team who does that for me :/. I seem to spend more time on my freaking Blackberry.

My knowledge on how to build, support and maintain PC's is about 5 years out of date now.

Same. Was heavily into it, built a watercooled, window'd, Matrix orbital'd blue-glow box, then that was it. It's still going strong after 5 years.

I build machines now and again mind for company use, so the 'creative' juices get spent on those (oo-err missus!)

Although it could do with an update now....the Ti4600 (750XP GS, remember those?) is feeling it's age a little as is the XP2100 (phwoar).

I use it daily now, for everything (video editing, CAD/CAM, graphics, web design & Day of Defeat :D )...good old computer o' war :)
