Does driving a certain make/type of car, make you think you own the road ?

I find that bmw drivers have a belief that their cars know when they are about to make a turn and auto turn on the indicators for then, as round here, they dont seam to work ?

Okay I own a BMW but don't think I own the road, but it is annoying when you are progressing along a motorway, moving out into the outer lanes to overtake other cars to get stuck behind some numpty that's just sitting in either the middle/outer lane without anything in front/besides of him.

If you aren't overtaking or stuck behind other traffic get the hell over if the road ahead is clear and have someone behind you that's travelling faster!

In general however, I seem to find that the more expensive the car, the less likley it appears that they will use their indicators and/or mirrors.
I think its the more poncey it is the more annoying the driver is. Like Alfa drivers that think they're in a nice car. Think they're great.

my point exactly .... isnt 80 or 85 not fast enough for you already? you are aware that anything over 70 is breaking the law right?

:)

The point of the Right hand lane is to overtake though. Not to sit there doing 80.

your still missing the point .... when have you ever had a beemer move over for you in the fast lane, or move over after they shot past you?

never

because it doesnt happen.

Of course it happens. And even if it doesn't given your stereotype they're doing 130mph+ anyway so what does it matter?

I always move out the way if someone is coming up behind me. Regardless what they are driving.

I'm well aware that anything over 70 is breaking the law and that's what gets me, some idiot sat doing 80-85 thinking to himself, 'well I'm already speeding and i've decided this is fast enough so I'm not moving for anyone.'

Speed aside, no one should be sat in the outer lanes without reason.

No it's not. What right do you have to try and dictate to me my speed?

It's not BMW drivers (or any other marques drivers for that matter) that are prats, it's the people like you that sit in the overtaking lanes when you aren't overtaking. Learn to drive, and move over.

Passat TDI drivers who think they've got a fast car :p :D
I'll echo that and raise you the entire collection of modern diesel drivers! Maybe your car has 320 Nm of torque, but it's all wasted, so don't drive like you own a Veyron :)

You haven't driven a fast diesel then? Its not "wasted" torque at all.

I wouldn't go as far to say that all Mercedes drivers are like that (My dad for example who is a very courteous driver and normally stays in the middle lane of the motorway apart from overtaking etc) but there is a few round here who don't seem to share that mentality. To be honest though i find clio/ fiesta etc banga drivers to be more hassle especially when they don't have the power to overtake but think they're flying a rocket ship:(:p
sounds like a typical merc driver tbh sat in his middle lane wafting along not giving a toss that the inside lane is free and making everyone cross 2 lanes to overtake him, so holding up the whole motorway and causing congestion............. sounds about right woud not expect anything else from our courteous merc driver, learn to drive tbh middle lane is an overtaking lane only to be used when overtaking, as are the outside lanes. If peoiple learnt how to use the motorway system properly there would not be half as much congestion :/

Totally agree, people in general in this country just sit in the middle and fast lanes for no reason when they should just move over regardless of what speed they are going. Most people normally see my car and just move out of the way, during the day (ah the joys of owning a Porsche) but it does infuriate me when people sit in the fast lane and dont move over when they can. It doesnt matter what speed this is occuring, if your not overtaking anything just move over.
In response to the BM, Merc issue, I definitely noticed a difference when my dad got his merc, he drives up peoples rears, flashes them, and then indicates after he has moved!!! Terrible

Can't really add to that, sounds spot on IMO.

Middle + Outside Lane hoggers = Morons to be quite ***** honest!

I have driven a fast diesel, I've also driven a diesel that seemed fast, when I knew it wasn't. It is the latter block I'm referring to - the seem fast but aren't group. A Fabia vRS is a good example of what I mean. Sporty appearance, sporty marketing, feels like a rocket... but ain't that much quicker than a 1.8 Escort!

In fact, VAG diesels are some of the worst. The new 2.0 TDI appears to have a very short torque spike when driving which honestly makes it feel like it's going to sprout wings and take you to the moon. However, 0-62 is 9.3s in a Leon

i hear you, but really thats their domain ...

its got to be BMW on the motorway though .... FLASH FLASH, get out the way, i am driving a BMW and i think i am kewl, and i am gonna intimidate everyone on the road, however fast your going ... its not fast enough .... blah blah blah ....

so the fact that you were holding them up isnt a problem, but the fact that they were driving a BMW is?
Nothing to do with driving a BMW, move out of the way, infact, get out of our lane!!

:D

Since when is 0-60mph the be all and end all for performance figures, after all when i overtake a car on a country lane i first stop then get upto 60 as quick as possible, its 30 - 70 that matters more.
