Does something need to be done about dogs?

Well you can as old data isn't necessarily relevant in the face of an increasing population and differing trends in ownership.

That seems awfully convenient.

Even if you add the figures from 2022 it barely makes a difference...

Unless you trip over it and bang your head, or choke trying to swallow one, a chihuahua will statistically never ever kill anyone. So your stats are meaningless. It's like saying cats hardly kill anyone, so it's ok to keep lions and tigers.

Wait, what?

Saying that domestic cats hardly kill anyone, so it is ok to keep lions and tigers is A. Clearly stupid and B. Nothing like what i said.

By the way, I am not against phasing out statiscally more dangerous breeds. My argument is more aimed at the chap who thinks all domestic dogs need to be eradicated because once in a blue moon, someone gets killed by one.

Decidedly inconvenient but if you look at the raw data you'll see the marked increase in the last few years that I mentioned earlier in the thread.

The point is that anything and everything CAN be dangerous occasionally and in some circumstances.

We shouldn't get rid of domestic dogs because of a few deaths per year, anymore than we should stop driving cars because of how many deaths that causes.

Exactly, and it gets silly because you end up trying to overoptimise everything, then society becomes really crap and draconian.

It's owners not dogs.

It wasn't so long ago Staffies were seen as dangerous and yet by nature they're soft as anything, probably why they were nanny dogs as they get on with kids so well.

Never owned a dog myself, too needy and messy for my liking but I do like them.

Owners on the other hand, the number I see with all sorts of breeds that have absolutely no control of them is mindboggling.

So too is they behaviour of going to the lengths of bagging poop but then just chucking it in the trees. Not only is the crap still there but it's encased in plastic. Genius.

Feel free to contact them and tell them.

So, out of curiosity - when it comes to fatal dog attacks and the numbers involved, what do you think is the answer, what would you suggest if you were in a position of power or legislation?

Knife thread is the other way mate

<----

This is a thread about dogs and how dangerous they are, especially to children! They just all need to be put down, the problem would go away in an instant. They are defiantly not "mans best friend" that's for sure!

Knee jerk reaction much?

If trained and treated properly, dogs are fantastic pets even with children in the mix.

I do wonder if people treated them as dogs instead of treating them as if they are human, it may help stop problems.... Too much humanisation of animals IMHO... "Fur-babies", "my little soldier", dressing them up like a walk is a fashion parade and all that other crap is just daft.

Incorrect, no matter how much they are trained or treated "properly" (what ever that means) there is still a chance they can attack and kill! They are an animal

People die in cattle attacks as well.. An average of 4-5 people/year in the UK..

Do we get rid of all cows?

Cows are not pets and are not kept in houses with children, they are used for many things, we kill them for meat already and drink there white juice

How is this relevent to this dog thread?

You have not answered a genuine question of mine. Tell John who is blind and has a guide dog which helps him massively your taking his dog away as they kill children? How do you think this would impact his life? More to the point how can you replace a working dog? Please answer I'm genuinely interested in your answer.

I've already stated that in this thread several times.
