Does something need to be done about dogs?

I've lost count of the literally hundreds of TikToks, YT, and Instagram videos of toddlers manhandling pitbull types in a family setting. Sure the person filming is essentially supervising the situation but I bet a good deal of money that there are tones of families who let their pitbull types dogs be with their kids unsupervised because they believe they're "softies"

And in every one that I've seen (double figures) the dog is showing extreme signs of distress and is only a few steps away from snapping at, or even biting, the child. Treated this way often enough, and warning signs ignored often enough, a dog will stop giving those warnings and go straight to biting. It's boils my **** especially all the comments along the lines of, "Isn't he/she lovely..."

I would just ignore Wizzkidy from now on tbh, he’s a blatant baiting troll. He won’t answer the question about assistance dogs as he hasn’t got an answer
I am no troll, assistance dogs well they can go as well as there no reassurance they won't attack either.

I do not know what the solution is to replace them, maybe an assistant cow

An assisted cow? Wow yes let's send a cow to go find someone stuck or even better help John around a shop! I have no idea if your joking or that naive. A working dog cannot be replace with anything. Please do some research just into to the mental health aspect and how it can save lives.

Utter madness.

That didn’t answer my question

Well seeing as I've not once suggested it as a solution in this thread I think the answer is pretty clear. but your question of me didn't answer mine, albeit I didn't ask you the question.

Sorry it was a bit of a joke that. I have seen good things from guide dogs they have there place but I think the risk is too great to allow any dogs personally.

What is the answer to replace them? I am not sure, how about just a person to look after someone that is blind, it always strikes me as a better solution and they can do more then a dog can?

I guess the next arguement there might be that there just isn't enough carers to do that for all the people that are visually impaired but I don't know if I would trust a dog to make me a cup of tea

Guide Dogs give the sort of independence and companionship that a human helper could never provide.

You really took the cow thing to the next level It would be a sight to see one helping a blind person around a shop no?

Independence is about not having to rely on other people to help you live your life.
But you can rely on a dog to help? Just because it don't walk on two legs and doesn't have arms?

A person can of course do those things, they are only there to help when needed, just like a dog but is capable of more!!

Not sure if this has been mentioned already but I suspect that the significant increase in dog attacks and fatalities are connected to the increase in dog ownership over the pandemic.

Many people who shouldn’t own dogs were no doubt persuaded during the general aberrational daftness which existed for a period.

That's actually a very good point but even so, dog attacks have been on the increase for years.

It is unacceptable to allow dogs in this county due to the risk, get rid!!

But it's not independence? A guide dog aids this. They can do wonderful things and greatly improve someone's life for the better, getting out and been mobile.

They cant make cup of teas that's not the point of a guide dog. They help someone to try live a normal life. No human can replace this. Even the mental health aspect a dog does wonders for this.

It has nothing to do with having a career, a dog won't pinch your items like some humans, they don't answer back and will do exactly as trained.

That is only one type of working dog, there are hundreds helping humans greatly.

My next door neighbour has a little dog, smaller than a cat. She is out every morning walking it, probably spends all day inside talking to it. I think unless you have not been a dog owner, it's very hard to see just how much they impact your life in a big way, physically and mentally. Just to save remove all dogs is naive.

I'm really lost in what can be said to you in regards to remove all dogs. I think society in general would be much worse off.

I've already stated that in this thread several times.

Could you summarise?

It's not clear, you mentioned licensing further back - but just saying "there should be licenses" isn't a solution, or really meaningful in any way - it's just an innuendo.

I mean, you're putting a lot of effort into complaining about dogs - and not much else. *shrug*

How can a person not provide companionship or independence to someone who is blind, please explain
They can, but 24/7 for “free”?

The views in this thread over some horrible, but thankfully tiny percentage attacks.

We should also replace all knives with sporks only, blunted tips
Cars limited to 5mph, everywhere
Oh and stop eating, as that death odds link a few pages back has choking from food 20 plus more times likely to kill you. IV Solent green, made from all the dogs, perhaps
