A few weeks ago i sent my xfx gtx 280xt off for rma. The card was artifacting at 70c. Got in contact with the etailer whom i purchased it from (not ocuk), found out that the card was indeed at fault. As the gtx 280 is eol theyve offered a refund of £123.00, i purchased the card in february 2009 for £280.00 with a 2 year warranty. Thought it would have been worth a bit more than that.

GTX285 or ATI 4890 would be the minimun acceptable replacements. A 5850 would be even better. If you do not get offered either of these, request a full refund (AS IS YOUR RIGHTS) and buy a 5890 with the funds.

They must offer goods of atleast equal quality or a refund.

edit: I recently returned a faulty Zotac GTX280 to OcUK which had died just a few days before the warranty ended. They replaced it promptly with a POV GTX280.

Got off the phone to the etailer just now, theyve refused point blank to offer a higher refund, or to replace the card with value/performance equivalent. They basically told me that the card is only worth £123.00 now, based on the use i got from it, also asked if they could supply me with an ati equivalent, this was also refused. Needless to say ill be contacting xfx direct, as this is terrible service.

Can you offer some kind of cryptic clue as to who this e-tailer is, so that we can avoid..

Also interested as to where they came up with that arbitrary valuation..
