Does this sound right (xfx rma)

Dont think its a psu issue, on the main system im running a 750w thermaltake toughpower, second rig has an enermax galaxy 650w, my 8800gt runs fine in the main pc, 3 year old bfg 8800gts 640 goes great as well on the 2nd rig. My gtx 280 ran great for almost a year, sent it off and it was tested and found to be at fault. The 275 is with my nephew at the minute, he's gonna try it in his 4 systems to verify that it is indeed faulty.

@Davy, indeed iam mate, thought this ordeal was finally over, actually worse than the 280, least with it i could run windows, only started artifacting in game, the 275 artifacts on login screen (on 2 systems). Absolutely fed up with this, more phone calls, emails and haggling to come.

Not sure, ive tested it on my 2 separate systems, both had the same result, my 7300gt and 8800gt work fine on both systems, as does the 640mb 8800 gts. Ive put in an offer for an 850w corsair hx psu on mm, was gonna get one anyway.

@Badas, on the 280 mate, even increasing fan speed to 100% only let me play for a few mins more, once the card hit 75c it sarted artifacting, hence the original rma, replacement card cant even get into windows, arifacts and blue screens.

I seen that mate, absolute disgrace. I was thinking the same, rma will take ages, ill probably just soldier on with the 8800gt till fermi is released. Concerning psu spikes, id have thought that if this was the case, my other cards would have been affected as well?

Im wondering if this could be a possibility? On my current thermaltake psu, theres 2 pcie power connectors, one 6 pin and one 8pin, the 8 pin connector has an adapter to step it down to 6, both cards that failed had dual power sockets, dual 6 pin on 275, 6 pin and 8 pin on the 280. All the other cards ive tested only needed the single 6 pin, (8800gts 640 + 8800gt). 7300gt was powered solely from the pcie slot. Or perhaps im clutching at straws, psu's arent my strong point.

@ch3mical, the strange hing is though, the replacement card died about 10 seconds after booting into windows, i went to check my email then the artifacts appeared, surely desktop display wouldnt place any strain on the card/psu, the psu is certainly well within spec, 750w thermatake tough power, basically the same psu as a corsair tx 750w.

@The Asgard, been on there forums as well, initially they blanked me, think they got a bit peeved with other users having a look and posting negative comments about them. Soon after this they offered me the replacement.

Got my psu tested, got a mate who's an electronics engineer and pc afficiendo, he says that my current psu is top notch, he tested every connector with a multimetre, confirmed that the psu is fine, he was that impressed with it, hes thinking of buying it off me, im changing to a corsair hx 850w modular unit next week.

My psu was tested on an sli 275 gtx setup running furmark extreme burn, crysis at 1920x1200 by a friend, he reckons that power spikes are highly unlikely, ive just been unlucky with the replacement card, mate told me, if the psu was at fault, my other cards would have been killed as well.

Crickey, this thread came back to life like a drunk jesus, though still no new card, ive rung them more times than i can count, on the one occasion i got through, they told me my gtx 275 (borked replacement card) was being sent off to be tested, that was last wednesday, rung them every day since, no answer on the phone, ive spent so much on postage rma'ing cards and phone calls, i could afford a fermi or 5870, still rocking my old second hand 8800gt theese days

Tbf, in my case xfx dont directly handle rma's, but theyve advised me to keep them informed of the situation with the retailer, and let them know if any problems arise. Still waiting on a new card though, if they do send me another gtx 275 card, ill only keep it as an interim card till i upgrade to something decent, ie 5870, or fermi, depending on price.

Got on the phone to them today, the gtx 275 was at fault. Replacement 275 sent out today, fingers crossed that i get a working one, will be nice to get away from my 8800gt, not a great card for 1920x1200.

Hope all goes well with it, you'll be able to turn up the detail now lol :D
Cheers mate, will be nice to be able to play BFBC2 at full res with a bit of eye candy, had to drop down to 1680x1050 with the gt, even then it wasnt great. May keep the gt as a physx card, got a new corsair hx 850w psu so power shouldnt be a problem.

Tbh mate, at the finish up i wasnt fussed wether it was a 275 or 285, it was better than the paltry sum of £123.11 they first offered me, also i knew that i wouldnt be keeping the replacement card too long.
