It was quite common practice but then every Tom, Dick and Harry that did something for you expected a Christmas tip and some even rang at the door. The only one that gets a tip these days is our paperboy.

In his defence, I think I might actually cope wearing shorts if I had to walk several miles with a heavy bag, assuming I had a decent pair of boots on.

Rough translation, from memory is:
"We've got a bet on at the sorting office, the person who wears shorts the longest wins, and the pot is currently at...."

IIRC in some cases the pot increases every week/month as everyone taking part pays in and can get quite large from what I've heard.

We've had no problems down here yet, but then the snow only lasted the morning on the roads/pavements.

Even on a normal christmas type day at the minute i don't even take out all the mail never mind the hundreds of packets and parcels.

RM have got the times so whittled down that if we write out a shut notice to people that we cant even get the mail delivered now it's so tight.

Even someone trying to talk to us is eating up time it's so so bad.

This is the first time in my four years of being at RM that i've not done overtime.... it's got so bad that everyday feels like overtime and i'm looking at ways to f##k them over.

There are a lot more people like me who would do overtime at christmas and wont do one minute overtime like me now.... such a horrible feeling inside the place also it's unreal.

They are trying to save money but this must be getting into debt now since they have to pay so much money in overtime because workers like me refuse to do overtime..... we had our line manager with a shirt and tie on (who is a clown) out the other day delevering our mail because nobody else would.

never paid ~that much attention to it before!

I got my post delivered t'other morning by a young lady (who resembled a Christmas elf) with shorts on (but leggings under) @ the people talking about shorts. I guessed it was a bet within the office type thing.

Not had any snow yet.
