Donald Trump

It's a like SC all over again. He'll wear us down until we're banging our heads on the tables. Trump could punch him in the face, steal his money and pee on his shoes and he would still defend him or use 'what about Clinton/Obama'.

It's odd that some in here claim we're the super triggered about Trump, perfectly knowing it's because we have to deal with dishonest debaters on a daily basis here. But what's worse, criticising and holding to account a racist, incompetent, power mad president? Or defending him? I know which side I would rather be on.

All they have is lies.

Even Trump's own lawyer yesterday got up and brazenly lied to the senate and chief justice.

It’s disingenuous though. You’re holding him to account, but if you was honest, you’d admit that he could be the greatest president in history and you’d still want him out because you just don’t like him.

Your mind was made up the minute he was elected. He had no chance with the likes of you.

This is rubbish. We (and the majority of the American population i might add) don't like him because he is objectively an awful person and a bad president.

Wait so you're telling me I should have ignored the decades of racism, his campaign, his associations, his demeanor, his corruption, his lack of business skills and his weird relationship with Ivanka? On what planet would nearly 70 years of this behaviour suddenly result in the 'greatest president in history'? Plus we have had 3 years of him - please tell me where he's shown to be the greatest president? I absolutely detest him as person and low and behold I feel the same way about his presidency but he's been objectively awful for anyone other than corporations and the 1%.

I have praised Trump when he does something right (get rid of TPP, the limited but step in the right direction with justice reform, his 'intention' of pulling troops from the ME just not his execution) but be honest - do you think he's done more good than bad?

You act as if Trump suddenly appeared out of nowhere with no history whatsoever.

Only because they got tied up in litigation because of White House obstruction, which no doubt would have gone on and on and on with the WH appealing everything until it got to the supreme court.

I agree that is what would have happened, but it is the correct path to take. This then shows that for the Dems, it's not about any criminal activity, it's all about stopping Trump in 2020 as they know they are likely to lose to him.

If Trump is innocent and no such scheme existed, why are they always trying to prevent people talking?

It's irrelevant what you or i believe. The correct process is clear. Take him to court and if a judge rules in favour of the dems, so be it.

Even recently there are reports that they intend to classify Bolton's testimony (if he chooses to testify).

Reports, reports, what ever CNN. Take trump to court and let a judge decide via the correct process.

A rather different set of circumstances no?

Gun running is bad.
"The committee voted 23-17 to hold Holder in contempt of Congress for his failure to release the documents, with the full chamber voting in favor of contempt 255-67"

The Justice Department cited executive privilege again to decline to prosecute Obama on the contempt charge.
And it took 4 years and a judge to get the papers.

And not a cnn pole ;)
Who is this "we" you speak of?

I'm sure you voted accordingly in 2016. But you lost and you just cannot let it go.

it was Attorney General Eric Holder who was held in Contempt, NOT Obama.

And what was in the papers that were so damaging to Obama?

The Judge said she:
"wasn't questioning the propriety of Obama's claim of privilege, but ruling that the claim could not be sustained in view of other information the Justice Department had released on the topic"

Namely an inspector general report released in 2012, a few months after the executive privilege was invoked

DOJ said:

The Department of Justice is pleased that the district court ... continued to recognize that the deliberative process component of the executive privilege exists and was a valid basis for the Department to withhold certain documents when requested by the House in 2011. Although the Department disagrees with the district court's conclusion that the privilege was overcome in this particular case by disclosures and statements made in other contexts, the Department has decided not to appeal the court’s judgement and has provided a production of documents to the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform,"

Sure thing:

From day 25 of his presidency, his average disapproval across a huge amount of polls has been above 50%

https://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/trump-approval-ratings/

He also lost the popular vote in the last election

https://edition.cnn.com/2016/12/21/...y-clinton-popular-vote-final-count/index.html

and in spite of his constant tweets and campaigning, his party lost the popular vote 51% - 45% in 2008

https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/el...vote-largest-midterm-margin-watergate-n938996

Unless you have any sort of aggregated statistics to say otherwise (ie that the majority of the American population like/approve of him)?

Trump is not a popular man, and does not and has never commanding the support of the majority.

Um..maybe because this whole thing is seen as a threat to national security and a threat to the validity of the election process? It is likely prudent not to let Trump continue with this behaviour for years while the court slowly makes its way to the inevitable decision that yes, people should answer to congressional subpeonas to testify, because otherwise the President is king and subpeonas mean nothing.

You are just willfully rejecting reality here man.

What CNN poll are you even talking about??! The only CNN link i gave you was one just reporting the final popular vote numbers for the 2016 election.

It looks like you didn't even bother to read what i wrote or linked to..

Go and do your own home work.
CNN give you links to the company that does the polls.

What?

Why do you keep going on about CNN polls? I didn't link to a single/specific CNN poll

The only polling link i gave you was the fivethirtyeight one which takes an average of loads of polls.
