DON'T BUY MSI THEY MIS-SOLD TOP SPEC GT SERIES LAPTOPS with MXM Graphics

Its sata 3 yes , i upgraded the 1TB 7200rpm to a seagate 2TB firecuda SSHD but even this is not big enough for games . i only install the games i play on laptop and then us the main PC for other games as that's got 2x4TB SSHD .

Jeeze how many games u got lol

Ive not even filled the 128Ssd or the 1tb halfway lmao and most of that is HD game footage lol

sorry that £2399 is the new SRP subtract credit for my current laptop at £1100

so new laptop will cost roughly £1299.

I say roughly because i don't have the original ram modules and don't know what else they MSI will try to charge for.

also update,

received my shipping label this morning, but my address is incorrect, they left the main line of the address missing from the label. great another delay. I know im going to go insane without my laptop, its my main source of enjoyment/relaxation, i don't have console and my backup laptop only had intel hd from 4th gen, so not great for gaming fun... i hope i get the new laptop asafp!

you see mate your offer here;
sorry that £2399 is the new SRP subtract credit for my current laptop at £1100

my srp was about 1400ish, and my offer was around 1,200 ill have to dig it out....

so clearly the amount they are valuing your current laptop is too low and you should get a bigger "discount" price as they call it

tbh if your not upgrading models and just going like for like, but just for GPU as it should be I would pay no more than £500.

realistically as MISJAH and myself have pointed out that £700ish for a 1070, minus £350-450 for your old card so £500 is still overpaying, but acceptable for me

also consider this, you could probably sell your current laptop and add your 1,100 to it and get a brand new laptop probably better value (maybe even a different brand :P)

also consider no matter what, this should be an upgrade GPU as promised, therefore your current configuration and condition of laptop should be 100% complete irrelevant here, which is why I would encourage you to push for a better deal imo. THE ONLY TIME your laptop spec should matter, is if you LOSE features and therefore a further discount should be provided to compensate a loss of features as when you purchased you agreed to a GPU upgrade, not a swap laptop lose feature gain a new card and pay our the butthole for it....

edit: update, neil said he would ring with tracking number at some point today, just replied to his email and says he is out of office from 7th until 13th now... so perhaps expect a slow down as things only seem to happen when neil chases it up....

Going purely on cost of the MSI manufactured MXM 1070/1080 available online, I would say £300 to upgrade to a GT73VR with 1070 or £600 to upgrade to a GT73VR with 1080 as long as both machines match RAM and storage quantities.

There is no reasons why we as customers should lose anything in a program designed by MSI to fix a screw up created by MSI.

You know for mine, I`m loesing, 16Gb memory, Limited edition shell and losing 256GB SSD. To keep the memory and SSd would cost me about £550.

Losing them is about £290.

Which seems about right, now saying that I dont think others have been given such a generous offer.

Nope, yours is the example that MSI will be held account to; MSI made their statement, no one forced them to. As customers it is up to us to hold them accountable, as their representative has held me accountable for statements I have made by threatening legal action.

agreed, I think you have the best offer so far, however is it that fair? as you have lost memory SSD space AND a limited edition (which in my eyes, should be heavily compensated as you may have picked the laptop over other brands specially for this design feature which you can't get on the new ones).

So whilst the monetary value is kind of fair, I still think it's not that fair to you considering the version of laptop you have!

edit; and your price vs other peoples quotes seems like they are getting ripped off, considering my first upgrade offer was around 1,000! (i only paid around 1,300 for my laptop as i shopped around and didn't buy at launch).

update: still no tracking number :( they promised it would be shipped today (before Wednesday), Poland is ahead so if it's not been shipped yet, I'm guessing it's going to have to wait until tomorrow :(

True, I used to have the normal edition till someone got drunk and chucked it down the stairs. The case was ok, but compared to the dragon edition, it sucked, I really miss my dragon. I did try to see If I could find any stickers or a way to put the art work back, but nay.

I have sent Nat and email, since neil only got back to me once, but seems like hes gone away now. This is day, 26th, my laptop was sent of on the 17 of Jan, so I`m not expecting my laptop till the 18th of Feb, providing I can pay today, If I`m lucky.

Holy **** so I have a kind of Msi document showing laptop and shipment is in holland but no reference yet....

Apprently someone in China has to authorise shipping from holland and they alao deal with in polland... Wow

something interesting happened today.

i got my email with the shipping label, and instructions for sending my laptop.

the instructions state that i need to have the original packaging, the original box, the padding for the laptop everything that it came with wrapped up, otherwise i will incur charges for missing materials. i called up Natalie and talked to her about it, she said not to worry they wont charge for not having the original box and wrapping.

that is really annoying that they would even think about charging for not having the original box...

also in regards to mylaptop original srp was £1199 i originally bought it with a bundle pack that came with the backpack and headphones etc, for £1050. MSI giving me credit of £1100

however i have put a few hundred in upgrades into the laptop, which i will have to now remove before shipping back.... i just want to get the new laptop as soon as ******* possible, i know i will be without a laptop for about 1 month or just longer, i will be in a really bad mood, like a woman on her period for the duration till i get my new laptop lol damm going to hate it.

Misjah your lucky you got a new laptop to keep you company...

Yeah, I know man.

Do you still have the original items that you upgraded or are you sending it back without them?

Natalie has been very helpful previously, MSI are lucky to have staff like that. It's such a shame the UK's hands are tied by Taiwan.

Miral79, it may seem like a worthwhile deal but MSI still are not upholding the statement they used in this program 'at costs comparable with previous MXM upgrades'.

As customers it's up to us to hold MSI (the multibillion dollar corporation) to account.

as i said they blamed it on chinese new year and some people on holiday... so again i think you will either receive laptop this week or early next week.

Haha my valentines day present to you.... nah benny on this forum is my real life mate and I saw the email realised that it's just a ref they need which I had from the support emails and then I started to piece this all together and my theory is we were suppose to pay all along but somewhere someone has dropped the ball and told us to wait for sales. But that's just my speculation the only thing that ruins that is that they contacted you and my mate lol.

Is this same topic also running over at Notebookreview forums, or any other popular forum?

Yes, the NBR thread is a more international version of this one. That thread currently has over quarter of a million unique views.

Same here

Pushing around 500 but at a guess ive probably only played around 200.

Steam sale is to blame :(

Steam = 6 games - played 1 (Project Cars, amazing game, took over from Gran Turismo for me).

uPlay = 12 games - played 3 (Far Cry 3, 4. Primal and still enjoy playing them).

Origin = 2 games - played 1 (Battlefield 4).
