DON'T BUY MSI THEY MIS-SOLD TOP SPEC GT SERIES LAPTOPS with MXM Graphics

Tbh I had a good trawl last night

There are many foruma this is discussed in but only notebook and OcUK seem to have links in them to the trade in other threads they seem unaware of trade in after asking about upgrade. Even msi forums haven't been updated with links from what I saw

I wonder what legal obligations MSI are required to make informing those that purchased GT model of notebooks aware of the trade-in program?

Well Neil finally got back to me, my emails ended up in his junk box.
I did email Nat yesterday asking her did she know whats going on.
I think they are still charging me for the repair, but I`m getting some costs reduce.

Nothing is going to happen until tomorrow, when Neil gets back, so no new computer this week. Maybe next week ? I just don't know, it would be nice if they bumped up the specs or gave me a game code or something.

I think MSI need to justify charging you for a cost that is only applicable because they reneged on their own advertising.

They are giving you less RAM and less overall storage, therefore should reduce your trade-in cost accordingly showing where this has been taken in to account vs the cost comparability of previous MXM upgrades.

Neo even though you have the most reasonable pricing based on MSI's own statements they still must be held accountable on costs incurred because they cannot provide what they advertised.

There is no reason why additional costs should fall on the customer for MSI's mistakes.

Maybe MSI are working out the appropriate amount to refund you guys to keep with their statement of 'costs comparable to previous MXM upgrades'?

So are these forums monitored by MSI ?
Just wondering as I have spoken to others who don't post here as much and they never get a reply.

But those of us who do post, get a reply, its just an idea as my email is similar to my user name and the details I have posted does ID me with MSI.

Or, It could just be others dont email MSI as much.

I believe all the manufacturers monitor these forums to some degree, as they have continuous activity and a large user base. Great way to promote to potential new customers.

Loki is MSI UK Notebooks representative on these forums.

(Also many customers that have bad experiences may bring it up on the forums, having a rep here helps to keep these under control and resolving them before they get out of hand).

Would make sense then, I do think using the forums gets you a quicker response and they cant blow you off by saying one thing to one customer and another to someone else.

Still, would it be right to say the trading in program is something like below.

UK MSI sends you the offer and sends you the details to ship your laptop

Poland MSI checks your Laptop and sends the details to MSI UK.
MSI UK asks you to pay MSI Amsterdam, who tells MSI UK if you payed.
MSI UK sends then your details to Taiwan, who then sends the ok to Amsterdam to send you your laptop.

Somewhere in there people where on holiday for 3 weeks because of Chinese NY.

Its one of the biggest forums in the UK, never mind PC focused. I'd imagine all, if not most PC component manufactures monitor these forums.

STILL NO TRACKING WHADAFOX MSI?!

Ringing my bank today gona report my money is missing as I habe no laptop almost 4 week

Not even slightly trying to play devils advocate, but 4 weeks is a pretty normal turnaround for almost all laptop warranty actions.

and still no tracking? has it been shipped or is the document just to shut me up for a bit?

I wasn't defending them I was just saying a 4 week turnaround from physically sending a laptop in is nothing unusual, especially for larger companies like MSI that have chaotic international structures.

Agreed.

However, these are very specific circumstances that require additional attention.
