Don't know if this has been posted already here. But IF you had a forum account on playdota.com before they started this giveaway, then you could be in for the chance of a key.

They are giving away 20 beta keys selected at random everyday as long as you post in "the thread"

Just a heads up anyways. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for one there or steam to be kind to me :)

that's a good sign tbh

Yep - I was one of the key donations to Arc so apologies at the moment it's been wasted :(

So far it's very similar to HON - so for HON players that has to be a good thing. I had expected some of the tutorial's to be at least up and at this point LOL is more fun imho of course :) I also found some of the performance to be terrible - weird juddering on the graphics side at certain points so if you want a reason for my lack of play that was number 1 and number 2 was wanting some tutorials first up :)

I'm keeping an eye on the patch notes and when I see changes i'll check them out.

Would anyone be so kind as to invite me if that's a possibility? I've played a lot of dota, hon and LoL but bored of them now and this would be my main game so would really appreciate it.

Actually - its HoN that is very similar to Dota. This is just a sequel to the original with a much better engine, graphics and server capabilities compared to the WC3 engine.

Its a beta client - this stuff is going to happen.

Well I am now in the beta, thanks very kindly to Arknor on here <3.

For those who are a fan of DOTA/HON then this really should be the game for you, I have loved every minute so far, the gameplay feels release ready. The engine is top notch obviously being steam, runs brilliantly and looks gorgeous at all times, sounds are nothing incredible but they get the job done well enough.

There are various balance issues, but things are changing with each patch. The game is deffo improving by the patch, which are weekly, and most add a new hero.

Things that are missing right now:

Tutorials,
Conceding,
Stats,

I'm having a blast all the same, my main issue right now is having to play with all the LoL players, 99% of whom are just really quite terrible.

Obviously it's DOTA2, it was never, ever, ever going to be anything even vaguely similar to the abomination that is LoL :D

I agree Utnac, I love how the spells smash into the ground etc.

Visually its awesome!

THe game is severely lacking in either a concede feature and leaver penalty at the moment, they shouldn't be far away though.

Hit me up on madpotter1985 (steam) for a game :)

It's never sounded anything different, icefrog has never produced anything original so signing him up consigned it to be exactly what it's title said.

They could have quite easily brought it down the LoL route to seem more appealing to the masses with or without icefrog.

It's always weird how Hon (and I am guessing Dota 2) players keep bringing up LOL into the equation - you do realise the reverse isn't true :)

What is your point?

I don't want it to feel/play like LoL, the whole pacing of the game feels dreadfully slow and sluggish.
But possibly it is brought up as there was a good chance due to how successful LoL has been Dota2 would copy several things from it to cater for that crowd to pull its players, thankfully it would seem it isn't.

I think its good that dota2 is dota2 and lol went there own way, cuz they then make both games different from one another!
