They aren't really designed for constant wear - I think you may get some nasty rash / chaffing if you wear them for ages.

I wore none lined swimming shorts in Fiji for 2 weeks constant. I did manage to wash them in a shower every night though

Should be fine for 5 days. If not then i can chuck on a pair of boxers

Forgot to mention toilet rolls! Yes I'm serious.

Set your alarm early every morning to use the toilets before the masses awake!

Baby wipes and Listerine are key...but i just crap in a bag in my tent

At one festival my housemate didn't go for a dump for 4 days

Camping at Oxegen (5 years ago now  ) didn't poo from the Friday morning getting to Ireland to the Tuesday after getting home, just didn't eat enough/went into survival mode (first big meal with a burger king in Dublin before flying home that monday).

Plan to poo (bring loo roll) don't be surprised if it doesn't happen :p

Also don't bring ANYTHING of value to you, if it "goes missing" over the weekend the last thing you want to do is miss out on the fun worrying about it.

I would have loved to go to this, Rammstein, Maiden, Motorhead. Dream festival.

Damn exams :(

Whatever you do I'm sure you'll enjoy it

Shall we have an OcUK meet :D

My 6th year, but the first year I'm going up on Wedensday instead of Thursday. Hoping to get into Donington around 9am so will hopefully be towards the front of the que!

I'm going down on the Thursday. Will be my 5th time going and 2nd time in RIP. Can't wait now! :)

I stopped going to Download for the whole weekend as its gotten quite pricey now but be aware of the atrocious layout of the camping site from the main arena now. Its quite a distance as the festival used to be held in the grassy bit on middle of actual track area which was next to the camping arena. Now the main arena is on the opposite side of the track compared to the camping and you'll have to walk 5-15 minutes, its terrible.

Tips:
- Bring a set of baby wipes and use this every day as a means of a "shower" so to speak.
- Bring at least 1 large bottle of water (3L at least), this should do for teeth brushing, general usage.
- You cannot bring your own alcohol into the arena BUT you can get away with a 500ml bottle of coke mixed with Jack Daniels or whatever you prefer. Just make sure it looks like it has not been opened by closing the cap really tight ;)
- Always bring a jumper or warm hoodie, it can get cold at night even though its been a sunny day. The site can also be notoriously windy as hell sometimes.
- Take some small disposable BBQ trays. Its cheaper to go into the camping store and buy sausages/burger patties & bread between a few people than buying festival food. Take an empty bottle, go to a food stall and squeeze some mayo/ketchup into it for your cooked food ;)
- Festival food is expensive, around £3-£4 for a bottle of coke/water and at least £5-£8 for a decent meal.
- For main meals I always try to use Deli Kate if I have to buy, they have the best home cooked food and pricing with big servings but they are quite popular. The queues can start around 5:30pm/6pm for dinner time meals when they start serving at 6:30pm ..... but they are worth the wait.
- Download a copy of the programme into your phone or have printouts of each day. With printouts you just take the day that the programme applies to and leave the rest in your tent.
- Spare battery for your phone can be useful if you can get one.
- Always ..... I mean always keep your valuables on you or away from your tent entrance at all times .... even when sleeping! This applies to your shoes too. Download's an attraction for all kinds of dipsticks and thieves.

What does everyone use to transport their stuff? Past couple of festivals I have used a sledge with re-enforced handle. 3 crates of beer fit on nicely

Me and a good mate of mine are driving up there for the Saturday to see Motorhead, Alice in Chains, QOTSA and of course - Iron Maiden!, can't wait now... really looking forward to it :) My second time seeing Maiden live, it's going to be one long day and having to drive back at midnight but it really will be worth it!

We're setting off really early on Saturday morning but not sure what time (We both live in Leicester) but I know the doors open for 10am so I'm thinking to leave for around 8am ish to try and beat the traffic.

Well the list is back to front, with the last act of the evening on first on the list instead of at the end of the list.

I will do. Not critising mate, just making an observation. :)

Will come in handy that's for sure. What camp site you staying on?

No worries. may need a bit of altering because i knocked it up when hungover to hell

Going down thursday around 6pm. Not sure yet, any specific site recommended? Ideally somewhere where its possible to get a bit of sleep but also close enough to action and not waterlogged if it rains a bit
