DPD - Follow My Parcel *5th August*

Never had a single problem ocuk/DPD, superb service, now royal mail, thats another story. Always end up increasing my order just so royal mail is not used!!

Like what has already been said, i think its very Depot specific.

@OCUK/5UB please dont stop using DPD unless another courier can offer the same/better service. I dont like waiting in all day for my new toy!
Maybe they could play music like an ice cream van, so i can run out and greet the driver to collect my electronic treat :D

My house is a little tucked away so I see the DPD driver drive past and then drive back and pull up so I always end up being downstairs to greet him at the door before he's even got out of his van.

is it sad I got to know all the DPD drivers names in my area, by talking to them on the front door step?

i also hint i like early deliveries now they all come at 7:00-7:30am :D

example
me: Hey how you doing,
Driver: good
Me: good day so far?
Me: looks at driver tag
Driver: yeah its been ok
me: glad you delivered early i love early deliveries or [been waiting for this all day, been to excited so been watching out the window :D]
Driver: sign here
me: cheers hope you have a nice day Dave

now each delivery man comes early :)

i even sometimes find out more like if they have kids or there shifts! all helps in them think come to smogsy first :)

I really like DPD and have always checked with shops which delivery companies they use. Another good reason to keep buying from OcUK and added convenience is nice even though on my recent delivery 10 days ago I didn't even get a text (mobile is in my account delivery details). Got an email but more convenient via text and if its meant to as standard anyway. I can't use tracking if I don't get the text to begin with so what is going wrong?

Smogsy they have their names on the tracker now :) I normally have Ian, there was a guy a year or so back who I had a nice conversation with because he was an hour early so I notified him :p

DPD are always great by me, always on time, other couriers should learn a thing or 2 from them

I can relate to that as countless other people will too. From another courier as a comparison: I recently paid (express delivery) for an iron to be delivered and I still had to wait up to 1pm that day with no idea when it would arrive and shockingly no email/text with estimates - 210mins of waiting. In my experience and hopefully others, DPD are simply miles ahead. Not just for speed, convenience, and ease of delivery, also the safe delivery of parcels and the polite drivers. OcUK+DPD are a winning combination :)

Just makes a great service even better. I love DPD, makes it so much less hassle if I'm not in - they'll actually make an effort to leave it with a neighbour, and if it does end up back at the depot, the depot has sensible hours that mean if you're working you stand a chance of getting there in the next day or two.

I can only presume that DPD are more expensive than other offerings (Citylink, the dreaded MyHermes, DXSecure etc) because in terms of service they demolish everyone else, there's no competition.

I had 6 experiences with DPD... 2 of them went really bad, 1 was late (out of the 1 hours window time) and 3 were ok.

the one that came late, was because of a Broken Van, so my parcel came 3 hours later than it should.

the 2 really bad ones:
1-) they never delivered the item or left a card, two days later after contacting the supplier, on the next day, DPD said that they left the parcel on the corner by the door, but it wasn't there, 2 days later a CARD is left on my door saying that the parcel is on the corner and it wasn't, so I made a complain and the supplier refunded me.

2-)I wasn't home so I left a friend waiting for my parcel, that didn't show up on the 1 hour window, so i contacted OCUK to see what was the problem. The driver said that nobody answered the door and he left a card. After some talk to OCUK we found out that the driver tried to delivery the parcel to the wrong place, because he asked if my door was blue and my door is white (my neighbor's door is blue, but my and his door have big numbers, so I don't know how he could miss it) this was Thursday and Friday was bank holiday and Monday too... since the parcel was inside the van I asked if they could delivery later that day.. and the answer was NO.. they would deliver only on Tuesday. I was like REALLY? but with the help from OCUK they upgraded my delivery to Saturday.

EXTRA: once they came to collect some fault graphics cards and they threw the box inside the van.

If I could I would avoid DPD, but unfortunately some companies only use them :/

DPD have always been great, the service i fear is Yodel... i've got a 100% track record of problems with them, ranging from no-shows after waiting in all day for them to items being completely destroyed upon arrival

We've seen Watchdog and read peoples comments about them here when OcUK used them very briefly. Wasn't sure if the most recent report from Watchdog was about them but it showed you the sorting area and throwing about a case of wine that was damaged where that small business had to foot the bill through no fault of their own. Maybe DPD should go another step and install CCTV for us to watch too since there's nothing on to watch these days :p

He's bringing my new gfx card today so will tell him ill be able to follow him online and see when he stops for his fag break :p

I wonder if their collection service has improved, when i had to return something DPD turned up 2 or 3 days later than the day they were supposed to, I was out at work all day all over the place so arranged for collection at my mum's house (it was delivered there for the same reason) as she's retired but after a couple of days she was phoning me asking when they were coming to collect as she wanted to leave the house!

This was a couple years ago now so maybe things have changed.

I have always found royal mail best I live right near the depot always turn up at 7:30 - 7:45am !!

This is a great addition to DPD service though.

I have found Yodel to be very "hit and miss" (mostly miss).

Their online tracking is best ignored. Last delivery I had stated that it was delivered at 10ish am, it was actually delivered in the afternoon. The hassle I had with a mobile phone delivery was immense. Would they leave it with a neighbour ? More than their jobsworth. Strange how my mate had his phone (ordered the same day from the same supplier, via Yodel) delivered to a neighbour, and not even the neighbour suggested by the note he left on his front door ! I had two failed delivery attempts (because I wasn't in), both times I left a note, on the second occasion I'd requested delivery to my neighbour, left a note on my door, and even spoke on the phone to the delivery driver when he arrived at my neighbour's house and refused to leave it.

Ended up doing a 52 mile round trip to pick it up from the depot (even though I live just a few miles from the centre of Birmingham).
