Drag me to hell

I caught the advert for it before Wolverine the other night and thought it looked excellent but the wife was none too impressed!

Slight Spoilers!

Saw this last night as well. A really good film but I had no idea how much comedy would be in it (in a good way fits well). The audience were in absolute stiches one minute, in shock and horror the next! I absolutely loved the car scene with the old women, one of the best movie scenes ever. My only beef was that the ending twist was really obvious and signposted throughout the movie. Overall a very solid 4/5 stars, if you love horror you owe it to yourself to watch it.

Yeah just saw it, was alright, quite surprised by the ending, it wasn't obvious to us.

I think part of it was simply the fact I knew there was a twist coming as it was a Lionsgate film (Saw 1-5, Catacombs, My Bloody Valentine etc).

what, were you looking the other way or something? :p

6/10, was a laugh and a good cinema experience (as in, it would be 5/10 if it was on tv), quite tense and jumpy at times, but I'll never watch it again

left the cinema wishing I'd seen something else..

as a mate said to my other mate when we left, "Bowen, you owe me 2 hours of my life, you knob"

it's not terrible, but it's obvious and has a comedic theme during it, causing the audience to laugh and jump

imo, the scariest film I've seen in the cinema was The Grudge, I actually wanted it to end so I could stop being scared, at home it feels fairly tame :p

edit..

I won't post again in this thread incase it looks like I'm trolling, I'm not :)

edit2..

have to agree, the sound was awesome

thats all i need to know

Trust me, SERIOUSLY, that comment is completely reckless. This film in no way deserves that.

If you enjoy horror, it's a must-see. It all depends on your cinematic sensibilities. The only thing I could equate the whole proceedings to is a first-rate story in an old EC Comics story. If that doesn't appeal to you, don't bother.

In fact, ignore that....Jesus Christ, BOTHER. It's well worth seeing. As I said earlier - this is Sam Raimi's return to the genre and while it may well be below his work in the Evil Dead series, it's a crowd-pleaser.

It's entertaining, funny and scary all at the same time. People at my screening were laughing and screaming - very loudly - all at the same time. It deserves an audience, and you really ought to see it. It's an amazing horror story, embracing the inherent cheesiness of the genre as it used to be. This isn't a modern exercise in gore or anything else. In fact, the Lamia's attack scenes pack one hell of a punch, not only in the extremely effective sound design.

I could go on forever on this.....seriously, see it and make up your own mind. I barely stopped smiling.

I'm still a bit confused how a 15rated film can be the scarist film of the year ?

It must take a lot to get the 18rated tag now adays....

I've not seen it and I prob wont since my gf hates horror films :(

Acting good, humour good, not another group of dizzy Yank teenagers getting picked off good. Evoked memories of Evil dead good.

My partner and I went with her mother, she is 71. We had been telling her it was not gory, just a bit scary. Then walking in the ticket teller decides to tell grandma "Oooh, it is very gruesome."
We were like shush. She came in and thought it was good too.
It has been over hyped, when are half decent films not overhyped now.

Havent seen it yet, but its fairly easy how a 15 rated film could be the scariest. The 18 rating comes from high graphic levels of sex or violence. You dont need high graphic levels of violence in order to be scary, indeed some would say that the scariest moments in cinema history have been in scenes where the fear was caused psychologically rather than visually.

Sixth sense, for example, that film scared me especially the part where he walks past the thermometer and the temperature drops. In fact I found sixth sense scarier, I did watch it on my own in this house. When I walk past the empty bedroom doors in this house at night, believe me it is scary. If you have read this far, imo, drag me to hell is alright, not a classic, not on your nelly. I personally would not of gone to the cinema to see it, it is my missus who drags me to all these horrors.
I hate these cheap shots they use in cinema now, basically volumes of sound to make you jump.
Anyone see 1048? There was a cool sound effect in that, subsonic sound??? that made you feel pressure in your ears. Cool. round about where he tries to escape through the hotel room window.
