Drag me to hell

Saw it tonight, one of the best horrors i've seen. Really, really jumpy at some points and it's pretty creepy. Definitely one to see at the cinema. I give it 9/10.

I'm still a bit confused how a 15rated film can be the scarist film of the year ?

It must take a lot to get the 18rated tag now adays....

I've not seen it and I prob wont since my gf hates horror films

What rating is Jaws or Poltergiest.

I've seen it I liked it. I thought I was pretty jaded and wouldnt be affected by the scares but they timing and way he did them you couldnt help but jump.

I was dissapointed with the ending though it was too obviously signposted, I wanted it to end in more of an escalation like his other movies.

You only need to visit most horror movie websites (BD, Dread Central etc..) to notice the sites reporters contempt for (USA) PG13 rated horror movies. I'm in total agreement. They don't work on any level. There's certainly no gore. Any anything remotely more shocking than a cat jumping through the ****ing window would garner an R rating. So this movie garnered a 15 cert in the UK did it (the bottom end of one I would guess) Oh just bring on the dvd.

there's nothing horror about it. The GF and i saw it last night and we both laughed far too much, as did the rest of the cinema:p it was entertaining thats for sure, and wasnt so bad really. but that film was not scary.

I just literally came back.

It was a good movie with the odd "jump" here and there, but in truth that was more down to the sound (which for some reason in my local cinema this time around was INSANELY loud) but it wasn't super scary.

Having said that, it is worth watching, as it doesn't take itself to seriously.

Yea same for me, its been produced at that volume I guess.

The kind of gate scraping noise was real cool, gave me goosebumps.

The sound is one of the reasons its worth watching it at the cinema, you wont get the full effect of being bludgeoned over the head with a hammer at home.

OMFG some of the comments on here...do some of you people actually watch recent horror films?! THEY SUCK!

I didn't find this film scary but then I never really do...entertainment wise it was amazing.

Humour, violence, twisted moments of complete madness! I choose my films wisely when it comes to picking a film in the cinema and this was a great choice. I've just bought myself the Evil Dead trilogy to show my faith in Mr.Raimi's talent.

8/10 film no doubt about it, but each to there own I suppose. The girlfriend also enjoyed it even if she found herself constantly jumping out her seat which gave me even more of a giggle :D.

^ ^ You lost me a bit. You're saying recent horror movies suck (recent: My Bloody Valentine 2009, Martyrs, Mum & Dad, Midnight Meat Train, Laid to Rest?) and then go and rate this film an 8.

The ending was far to obvious though, I would have been actually more surprised if what happened didn't happen...

Films such as those you've quoted are the diamonds in the rough among the sheer amount of modern horror flicks that aren't worth a damn.

Please do not criticise his giving this film an 8/10 (I'd agree with that figure), when you haven't seen it yourself. You seem dead against even considering it may be good simply because of the PG-13 rating. As you mentioned, horror sites such as Dread Central hate PG-13 horror as much as you or me, but take a look at their glowing review of "Drag Me To Hell". If that doesn't tell you something, I don't know what will.

i know it said I wouldn't post again..

but come on, 8/10? that's top 50 films territory..

they should have cashed in on the 3d market with this film, would've sold it to me a bit better, like my bloody valentine

Saw this Friday night - to be honest came away feeling the film had no idea what it really wanted to be. Half of it was this intense, dark psychological horror, and then you had campy horror-comedy moments that didn't fit with the them of the film and broke the consistency.

Not a bad film, but overrated IMO.

have you ever seen the evil dead?

hmmm, it was ok but it was like a 1970-1990's cheesy horror spoof film, i couldnt get what they were trying to do.

Considering i study Film i have a reasonable amount of knowledge on it.

I have to say this film would be lucky to get 2/10.

On par with the original Hulk on terms of how bad it was.

Absolutely AWFUL.

How anyone here can say it is 'good' or 'ok' is beyond me, it was absolutely dreadful.
