Dragon Age Inquisition

How many hours you in?

A few of the reviews I have read all say the same thing that the first 15 hours or so are rather run of the mill and then it clicks into a proper DA game.

10 hours, but I think I did a bit more optional stuff than I should have done tbh. The story has barely got going, and I only have one extra companion!

Anyone else using the mount 'red hart'. I love it!

I killed the first mini boss half a dozen times.

I just can't settle on a character class combo i want to play with for the 100 hours, i'm far to fussy.

Tried female Mage, mage felt decent but don't usually ever play female. Cant get a decent look male human or elf though.

Tried Qunari or whoever you spell it, he looks good but only class i can really partner him with is warrior and well warrior is just dull.

I'm always like this on MMO's takes me ages get started.

Played for about 4-5 hours today really do love it. Im still in the Hinterlands collecting everything and doing the side quests. The performance for me has been my only problem. I tried playing at max settings and it wasn't very smooth in certain places. So put it down to ultra, which was a little better. Finally settled for high, still looks amazing.

Nvidia just released new drivers so maybe that will improve it. Does the game use sli yet?

I am trying to get into it but struggling. I am finding the controls very clunky and well, consolely? I miss the DA:O controls already. Its small things like the tactial map being crappy and not really being able to give my party actions. It feels more like an Action game rather then an RPG at the moment.

thats not good to hear Smeaney. My big question is, can you make your own party tactics like in DAO, where you could fine tune your whole party right down to the last tee. So have say archers stay back and take out the furthest threats but if there was a mage to take them first, use this potion at 50 or that potion at 70 etc etc. Tanks to take on that threat with that weapon or power etc. The party tactics were fantastic in DAO, absolutely made that game.

To a small degree yes, but nothing like DA:O

I am going to keep on at the game as I know I will enjoy it, I just need to almost forget that DA:O was not an 'action' RPG and that this one is looking to be one. Hopefully as the game progresses things will feel a little less clumsy.

I am loving the controls, it feels so slick. Thing is, it's a multi-format game that has cost squillions to make. Therefore they need to appeal to a mass market to make a profit, it's the way gaming is now really.

For pure old school RPG you need to look for games like Divinity. This for me is an amazing compromise between the old school RPG and the newer style faster paced gaming. Plus with any Bioware game, it's primarily about characters, story and lore. This world is awesome.

I also fail to understand why people raved about Skyrim, which is a good game don't get me wrong, but it has basic bland as **** combat. This is more my cup of tea.

Vanilla Skyrim yes, but with mods the game is simply mind blowingly good. If everyone could sample today what mods have done to Skyrim, there would be no other reason to make that type of game again. Skyrim is different league modded, a complete game changer not just visually, but gameplay changes have made it different gravy entirely.

I think now that I have got the cutscenes running at 60 FPS so the stuttering is gone, if I can now get the UI to be smaller I will be able to focus on the game more. At the moment I am getting annoyed with large areas of the screen covered in text. They have made a beautiful game, why dont they let me see it?
