Dragon Age Inquisition

Just a heads up to any people starting the game today - there is a nasty bug where the game wrongly assigns your avatar's gender, which causes bizarre scenarios eg. my dwarven warrior being announced "M'lady", and "wrong" companions wanting to get it on with you lol. To help minimise the chance of this bug occurring, at the start of the game on the character selection screen, flick back and forth between the male/female options before choosing your desired choice. I'd already invested about 20 hrs into my first character before I cottoned on what was happening, which blows. Really not keen on restarting so think I may put the game down awhile and await some fixes. Still loving the game overall though !

Think I'll do that.

Besides, I can hide his face with a helmet:D I'd welcome a way to adjust the characters look in game though. Beards look horrible

It would have been good to have had the opportunity to tweak appearance after the prologue as it would have allowed us to see the character in game before committing to the rest of the story:)

The hair rendering does seem very shiny, my Inquisitor always takes two bottles into the shower because he's worth it:p:D

Thanks for the heads up, I think I did flick between by coincidence so hope I'm ok.
There is another bug apparently related to when you encounter a character from the past...
If you customise Hawks appearance a bug can happen which changes your accent from British to American...

Anyone else think the Brit male voice sounds almost dopey at times? Like he's not quite right and events are passing him by? :p Not tried the American accent yet so that might be worse.

Thanks my friend, cutscenes super smooth and all the little shimmering on armor etc all gone now

This game is stunning at times. I haven't taken any other screenshots but I just arrived at this place a few mins ago and was genuinely stunned at how good it looks and how smooth even on my older PC! Can't appreciate the depth to everything in an image but I bet it looks insane maxed on a high end rig.

Been playing it for a couple of hours so far and think it's brilliant although I am getting annoyed by a wee problem! Every now and then, the game will just decide that it doesn't want to be full screen any more and go to windowed mode, and I can't change it back to fullscreen without having to mess around a bit with it. Any fixes for this?

EDIT: Now I can't even get the ******* game to work at all...

Really enjoying what I can play of the game so far.

Keep getting directx function getdeviceremovedreason failed with dxgi_error_device_hung error messages, then I have to forcibly exit the game.

Tried a couple of suggestions on other forums (turning off ambient occlusion and bumping the graphics core down a touch) but to no avail. It's not crashed in the same part either, normally just after a cut scene.

Anyone else getting these errors?

System specs for those interested:
i7 2700k OCd to 4.5ghz
Vtx3d R9 290 reference
Gigabyte GA-Z68XP-UD4
8GB Corsair vengeneance 1600mhz
Corsair TX850M

Are you using AMD-Catalyst-14.11.2? If so have you enabled Mantle as the render?

loving the game at the moment but only just started(level 3 mage) looks awesome as well, 1080p on ultra and runs real nice, apart from the cutscenes :/

edit: how do I know if its running on mantle? :p

Forogt that this was a mantle enabled title. I've now installed the latest beta driver and enabled mantle, but the game runs like dog poo in comparisson to DX, ah well at least no more crashing for now hopefully the frame rates will improve as the driver matures :)

You have to download the latest beta driver from AMD and then enable it in the menu and restart the game.

Not exactly, but similar. There's a large thread on the Bioware forums about it. Turning off Origin-In-Game & lowering Ambient Occlusion has helped a few out.

Not me though, as I can't get past the character creation screen atm.

Constantly crashes at the end with either Mantle or Dx 'out of memory errors', followed with ' GR_ERROR_UNKNOWN_GPU: "AMD Radeon R9 200 Series" '.

Running a 290 Tri-X on 14.11.2 betas. Going to roll back to 14.9 and see what happens.

The game really is amazing. I think I am close to the end of the main quest now, which is disappointing tbh, but I still have 6 whole areas I have not even been to!.. Just did a totally optional side quest that was not even mentioned by anyone, and it opened up another massive area!

The way it blends main and side quests together is excellent. Best I've seen.

I've gotten to the part...

Haven is attacked after I closed the breach

And I'm Just wondering how far along the main quest I currently am (Hopefully lots more to do because I'm taking my time and really enjoying it!) but I'm going to need to organise some free time to play at this rate. :)

Has anyone else had any problems with Mantle and this? Turns out that was what was causing the problems I was having

I had one mantle related crash but that's it. Haven't actually tried it in DX - I've been running mantle from the start with no other issues (7950 @1100/1300 everything on ultra except aa which is on medium & msaa off.) With my 2500k @ 4ghz I get 35-40fps outside but it feels very smooth for the most part using a gamepad.
