Dragon Age Inquisition

Soooo, I'm absolutely loving this game. It's jaw droppingly gorgeous! The voice acting is brilliant and I've had a few laughs from the dialog.

My question to you guys is am I ruining the main story by putting it off until I have NOTHING else to do? I'm about 24 hours play time with my mage (wish I went dagger rogue... Mmmm, DPS!), I've been focusing on completing every single nook and cranny so far. I'm at the point in the main story where I have just left val royeaux and yet to even reach Skyhold. So unsure how early/late that is.

I'm level 11, unlocked a few party members, such as Iron Bull. At the moment, I'm just going round doing all the side quests before the main mission. But I'm wondering, am I making the game too easy by doing this?

Yup, the main game does become very easy once you have levelled up. However, the main story isn't that long to be honest, so if you concentrate too much on that you'll have finished the game before you know it.

I have only just gone to Val Royeuxe (sp?) for the first time and am level 9 nearly level 10. Think I may have over leveled myself a little. Now have the choice of choosing between the Templars and the Mages as well as going to meet Iron Bull

I'm literally about 30 mins in terms of gameplay ahead of you with the main story. I chose mages because I am one :p

But at the time where you are, I was 10, I'm now 11. So far, I don't feel overpowered. So I think now is a good time to progress a little until I've got Skyhold then I'll crack on with secondary quests again.

Perfect, Makes me feel a little better about things and I will continue to run around the hinterlands like a headless chicken attempting (and failing) to do the level 12 rifts

I'd recommend you still push on just a little bit further and get to Skyhold before you go and complete every little sidequest. Firstly because the events up to that point are really good but mainly because getting Skyhold opens up even more stuff to do and new areas that are more interesting than the Hinterlands :)

Haha! We are at identical places. I'm only just infront of you. I cleared the last of the rifts last night. Starting with that PITA one allowing you access to the wolf den. Why the devs decided to put the rift so high up. I'll never know.

But yea, only just cleared them! I'll play more tonight and finish off any excess side quests in Hinterlands then continue on to get to Skyhold.

But but but...I still have quests. I just feel wrong and dirty if I leave an area and still have quests to complete :(

Hehe, I know what you mean but you can always come back to that area and Skyhold is a really nice place to get. If you are already doing the quest siding with the mages/templars then you are very close to getting Skyhold anyway. It opens up enchanting items, unlocks specialisations for you and all your party members, collections of items to upgrade Skyhold and allows access to loads of new areas with even more sidequests to complete ;)

Just completed the main story, amazing game I went as a two handed swordsman, level 18 - and just was a tank by the end of it, dragons were just like slicing a cake! used runes, and upgrades help tons!

Got a few quests to go back and tidy up but not bothered too much, 200+ plus hours! :O

200+ hours and still stuff to do! That does NOT bode well for me, I'm only 24 hours into my game and will be getting Skyhold pretty much 5 mins after signing in tonight. I've done 90% of Hinterlands and a couple of other places. Where are the other 180 hours?????

There are a lot more areas open up after you get Skyhold and I've only played a few hours past that point so I guess there are still even more to come.

I have literally been doing everything, speaking to all members, creating dialogue, crafting, grinding, visiting, explorting, side missions, doing all the operations at the war table, not to mention the main story!

Cant remember the last time I got so engrossed in a game!

I have the 2 in the south west left to clear, 1 in a cave and 1 just down the hill from the massive fortress, I can clear the first wave of both and then get annihilated by the second wave

allows access to loads of new areas with even more sidequests to complete ;)

Oh god, My life

Sweet jesus... I have a very annoying niggle at the back of my mind to play as a rogue... Should I do so? I'm level 11, 24 hours in. Not unlocked Skyhold yet, I could skip 90% of dialogue on the replay up until the same point making it a little quicker... Or should I just stick it out?

Ah, the second wave is a pain. I basically distract the enemies as much as possible with my party and use the actual rift to knock them down by disrupting it. Took a few disrupts but it certainly helped. The down time from my main taken to disrupt did more damage than if I didn't bother.

200?! I'm just about to clean up the last zone with what looks to be 2 story missions left. I've done everything possible, even using some map guides to make sure I didn't miss anything and I'm at about 95hrs.

If I'm underestimating the length then woohoo!
I'm on the last two quests listed on the main story http://dragonage.wikia.com/wiki/Quests_(Inquisition) I've not been powering it at all.

Although http://howlongtobeat.com/game.php?id=11627 suggests its between my time and your time, I just have no idea how it's possible to double that time.

One thing I didn't like about the game was crafting wasn't that clear, I mean I understood how it works but the interface was horrible. That and I honestly haven't found better loot for about 40 hours, seems I have the best crafted stuff and nothing else beats it, ruin the whole "ooooh look what I found for this effort".

Otherwise I'm impressed I've managed to play this long, I usually hate fluff and side mission in games but some how this hooked me, I've played all the previous games too.

13 hours in and WoW is just a distant memory :) Still pottering about in the hinterlands and lvl 8 now, just a couple of niggles marring my game so far. Main one is collecting stuff, having to be almost on top of something before you can gather it and then bending down to pick it up - just pick it up if it's in my reach area. I also find the searching a pain, just constantly pressing v soon becomes boring. Is there a way to determine what lvl enemies are before you engage them? Got spanked tonight by a lvl 12 rift.
