Dragon Age Inquisition

Hi guys haven't posted for ages so thought it was about time I updated my thoughts on DA:I:)

My most anticipated game of 2014 came out just as a family crisis began to unfold so I had very little time to play it initially. The moments I did it gave me the chance to escape for a little while, something I guess all good stories can do.

In the end I played a total of approx 220hrs on an almost completionist run with the core story bringing much enjoyment. As has been said by many DA:I's scale is both a blessing and a curse but as a DA fan it gave me more than I could have hoped.

Haven't played the DLC which I hope to at a later date.

My first play through began just before the most traumatic period of my life started so it will be a while before I return to the beginning but before DA 4 I'd like to play it again in hopefully happier times.

It's good to be posting again and life seems to be sailing into calmer waters so here's to the good times for us all!:)

(As everyone's gone Witcher crazy I don't expect anyone will read this but I thought I'd post it anyway:p:D)

Good to hear things are settling down, DA:I is a great world in which to escape - I have spent (for me) a lot of time absorbed in this game, all of 30 hours :-)

Thanks jkb:) I spent about 30hrs (possibly more:D) in the Hinterlands exploring so I think you've got quite an adventure ahead, I hope you enjoy it as much as I did:)

Hey Ash glad things are looking up now. I'm on the second play through, 300 hours and counting. I've got 2 weeks till I start the witcher so need to finish this quick.

Off work this week so I decided to fire this up again and get out of the Hinterlands, and yes, the game has MUCH improved.

I've not invested in any inquisition points yet, because I want to capture my 1st keep.

Can anyone tell me when they becomes available.

I've just got to Skyloft

My only regret now is that I'm not a mage, finding rogue a lil boring.

It's been a while since I played the campaign but do you mean capturing keeps for the Inquisition? If so I think you just have to be a powerful enough badass to clear out the place and voila you gain a keep and power for the Inquistion!!:D

If I misunderstood :o apologies and I guess you've probably figured it out by now anyway:p

Dragon Age Inquisition: The Descent
Heading back into the Deep Roads!!!!

Haven't played any DLC yet but this is tempting!!

So im in the mood for a new game to break up my GTA obsession.

Considering I was obsessed with oblivion/skyrim would you guys recommend this? The Witcher 3 has been recommended to me, but I remember seeing this game advertised pre release and thought it looked good.

Are there any major faults with the game?

If you enjoyed oblivion etc I think you'll enjoy the world that Thedas delivers:)

The multiplayer is good fun as well, especially with the new characters. The Silent Sister Pala is the tank to end all tanks in the form of a rogue:eek::cool:

DRAGONAGE INQUISITION : TRESPASSER DLC!!!!

The closing part of Inquisition is nearly here, might be time for another trip to Thedas:cool:

PS4 version shown as the PC one has Swears:eek::D

Also a new addition to Skyhold, a Golden Nug will allow us to restart the story with schematics etc we've already acquired:)

To be honest Witcher 3 is leaps above nearly every game. However I revisited this and found myself drawn back into the world. The game that's really lost appeal now is Skyrim.

The new DLC announced looks interesting too.

I just finished the dlc a few days ago, didn't think I would be able to get into it after the Witcher 3 but I did manage to get sucked in, that was more to the story than anything else really and the ending of Tresspasser OMG!

I finished this game in a few weeks after it came out. Witcher 3 I had since release and put in 40+ hours, plus haven't touched it in over a month and I know where near finishing, which is kinda funny as I think its better than DA:I.
Will purchase the 3 expansions, quite keen to see the new areas and see how the game finally wraps up.

I originally completed this back in Feb but have been waiting for all of the DLC to come out so that I can go back and play through it all in one go. Trespasser came out just as I completed Witcher 3 so the timing was perfect. Witcher 3 left me wanting more RPG action:)

I've included some mini reviews below in case any of you are interested.

Jaws of Hakkon
This is basically another large level much like the ones in the normal game. Big map, lots of enemies and interesting storyline which provides some nice background on the DA series as a whole. I like the level design and the variety of locations. However there is not much in the way of interesting loot :( I can't remember actually using any of the schematics or equipment I picked up. Overall I felt it was a 6/10 for this. Enjoyable but unspectacular.

I felt like JoH wasn't particularly challenging. I was already too high a level to gain exp from it and I never really felt in danger. The only challenging part was the bit before the dragon is set loose when you have to be near a fire so you don't lose health. The final fight was a bit hectic mainly due to the camera angle on tactical view though. I still got through it first time. Killed the dragon first time as well.

The Descent
Now this is more like it! One of the my criticisms from DA:I was that every level was a massive expanse with a multiple of objectives and quests. I always much preferred the feel of exploring a dungeon and slowly working your way through it to the end. We finally get that with this expansion and even better it's set in the deep roads:D

Storyline is excellent and again provides some background info on the series as a whole. I did think the ending was a bit weak though. Level design is good and there are a few areas you can miss if you don't explore properly. There are some new interesting enemies to take on, which I liked. Again there is a severe lack of useful loot in this DLC. I think I found a couple of helmets that I used but that was about it.

There was a fight about half way through that bugged out and wasn't completable. I had to do it three times before it triggered properly. Quite annoying because there was a whole sequence leading up to it in which you can't save at any point so probably spent about an hour re-playing the same section

This was my favourite DLC of the three. A definite 8/10 for me.

I really like the "bolter" type enemies. They seemed to do some serious damage if you don't take care of them early on. Encourages you to be tactical which I like.

I had a laugh at the King of the Nugs scene :) Very odd though!

I felt the final fight was ruined by the tactical camera. It would have been much easier to manage if you could just zoom out a bit more. Surely they can easily fix this and should have by now:confused:

Trespasser
A fitting ending to the series but I don't think they make it clear enough that you can't go back once it's started. You do get a notification about this but only once you've already started and seemingly can't go back (that I could find anyway). Something to be aware of anyway.

Storyline is good although it does walk you through. It's quite linear but fun none the less. Enemies are generic, there is nothing new here to experience. There is some "interesting" loot but I was never sure it was better than what I already had. I equipped a few things but by this point you're so powerful anyway that it doesn't make much difference. This DLC is more about ending the experience than adding to it. A solid 7/10.

A must play if you have completed DA:I because it continues the storyline.

The Solas reveal was a good twist. Not sure it makes sense in the context of the game though. For it to work you have to believe that Solas was holding himself back the entire game, putting himself and his supposed friends in danger because he didn't want to reveal his true power.

I'm guessing that this is the setup for DA4. Although it could just as easily get forgotten about like some other storylines in previous games.

Again I felt overpowered the whole time. There were no testing fights. The only real challenge was getting through those purple flames for the loot!
