Dragon Age: The Veilguard

Thought you didn't engage with YouTube and other forms of social media, Vincent. After all, you're a traditional print media guy, am I right ? ;)
I use YouTube all the time, not for video games reviews though.

Anyway, just thought I would have a quick browse of the trailers to watch all this concerning DEI content they lead with

That mythical audience, which doesn't exist judging by the failures of similar media. Microsoft and other companies are already on record admitting the younger generations don't play these sort of games. Mobile devices & "forever games" eg. Fortnite rule their world.

Fortnite is more kids and young teens, this is likely aimed at college/ uni teens.

They can't make it dark/scary like the originals because it will hurt their feelings and have to stay in their safe space for a period of time to get over it.

You can tell from the colour scheme in that regard.

The pendulum swings, and while I dislike that as much as the current state I feel it's going to go to another extreme from a cultural standpoint.

I grew up listening to my WW2 era Grandmother speaking about how she was glad she was on her way out, I've got possibly another 38 years of this plap.

It's about as much a dark fantasy as Spongebob Squarepants is.

If you saw the initial trailers, you only had to look at the art style and technicolour vomit palette (just like Concord) to see where this was going, and here we are. Hopefully this kills off Bioware, not that this is Bioware of course, they died years ago.

That screenshot going round that shows the top reviews and underlines "return to form" in all of the short summaries. :D
It's very clear that these 100/100 reviews are bought and paid for. People still love to play Devil's advocate, but when it comes to AAA gaming, there's little point in that these days.

ENDYMIONtv makes a good point...

He said that one of his friends told Bioware/EA that she was non binary to get a code. They were happy to oblige, but didn't expect the very negative response about the game on Twitter. All of these 10/10 and 100/100 have all said the same thing about diversity and inclusivity also ( personal bio of being non binary etc ). So their ideology is paramount to a good review! It's all in the video and does make perfect sense "Return to form".

I have nothing against anyone's faith, sexuality, pronouns. But when it becomes " FORCED " and affects the very foundation of game development for a specific set of rave pre-views it's very bad. Take a look at all the movies and TV Shows that have been ruined by this. Disney/Marvel etc

It needs to be organic, and it hasn't been in a lot of studios for a long time.

I'm a dude that swings both ways for context, I prefer women but I'm effectively bisexual and I find this stuff painful.

Modern writers are all about self-inserting, and getting on a soapbox about whatever the in-thing is. It might work for their Reddit fan-fiction, but when you're on a big team writing for an established and respected franchise... Not so much. Games journalism is an even bigger cesspit right now.
Being preached to about things I consider an illness, doesn't really work for me.

Not if the studios (film, gaming etc) keep shutting up shop.
There’s only so many investors who’ll keep betting on a 3 legged donkey to win a race.

Yea it's being forced but it's producing flop after flop as people just aren't buying it. The money will only last so long.

Studios controlling what reviewers can say using legal threats speaks for itself. They already know people sharing the woke/political content from the game will lose customers.

"Go woke, go broke" is very real.

Holy smokes I just saw large part of the T(r)aash's companion questline, there is a point where Isabella (who herself looks like bad joke now) "misgenders" her and immediately does push ups to "repent" for that terrible offense

I can't even, this game is beyond parody. Are we sure it wasn't made by Trump campaign to satirise the left?

I was hoping Nexus Mods would save this game... HOWEVER! Nexus Mods has been known to heavily lean to the left and take down such mods.

Taking out Traash and the pronoun ****

Here it is.. and wow

Makes a non binary mistake, forced to do push ups to repent, and then apologies again with no "EVIL" option

Holy ****, the writing team must be super proud of their/they/them's effort.
What an absolute crock of poop, it really is like the HR team were looming over the devs shoulders at all times!
I refuse to believe it can get any worse than that, but I have a feeling that I'll be proved wrong.
